DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 10 NO MATTER WHAT OTHER REVIEWERS WRITE
I was not going to download this as it wasn't compatible with Windows 10, however, I read from a few reviewers that they downloaded a patch to use with Windows 10. I checked out the website and the patch did exist, so I went ahead and purchased the product.Well, the patch did not work with this game on my system because I have Windows 10. I don't think any reviewer would intentionally lie about it, but obviously, they are not computer savvy and are unaware they have an older operating system, and that was probably why the patch worked for them.I was really disappointed as I really enjoy the old city-building games and can't find any new PC games that work like the old ones. I don't need a lot of flash, and I don't want to fight wars, just good-old city building and this game seemed like it might feature that.

Nice follow-up after Pharoah/Cleopatra
I was a huge fan of the Pharoah/Cleopatra game. I enjoy these types of building/managing games far more than other types of video games. This one is great for people who liked Pharoah, and is even better since you can turn objects at angles, and individual buildings do not all require road access. You can make paths and roads marking out areas and mapping your city, then realistically place your buildings and objects where you want them and people will walk to them. With the older games, you were kind of stuck just building huge squares. You also don't have to worry about placing your houses so close to where your people will work. In some of the other city builders I've played, you have to put your neighborhoods just about next door to all your employment, or the buildings will stand empty because people won't walk a little ways to go to work. In this game, people will walk vast distances and even hop in little boats and cross rivers to go to work. Much more realistic. Something else new here is that your city-building is in no way dependent on money--because there is no money in the game. Food is the only currency and all your construction is done using materials taken, or made from, the land on the map. Graphics are nice--no pixelation. More decorating objects would be better, but you can still make an impressive-looking city. More challenges or free-form/open play scenarios would also have been a bonus--a map editor for unlimited custom play like in Pharoah or Caesar would have been great. Still, a very enjoyable game for those who like to think and build as oppose to run, jump, and shoot. Already recommended it to the other people I know who like the Pharoah/Ceasar games.

Interesting sim style game
Despite some other reviews that complained of slowness etc,I have always had a fascination with Ancient Egypt, and Irecently have really enjoyed playing Sim City. When I sawan advertisement for this it drew my attention, and eventhough I saw the slightly negative reviews I thought I'd haveto try it, it was fairly economical as far as PC games go.While I have only been going through the tutorials and donesome very minimal playing with it, I thoroughly enjoy it,although I hope that I will remember the things I am learningin the lessons. It seems there are a number of key things andthat to be successful you probably have to follow a setprogression of building, and I wonder how quickly you fail ifyou forget the progression or miss a step or two along the way.As for the slowness, I don't find it that much different thanSim City, and if it is a little slow, I like the music soundtrack to this much more than Sim City (though I know that Ican change choices there too), and I love watching the people, and it's interesting to kind of like latch onto specific people andget an idea of what they are doing and what their roles consist of.Incidentally I do not have a powerful machine, but then againI like a game that progresses at a pace I can keep up with, which maybe is a bit slow for many people.Anyway if you don't plan on playing the entire game in ahalf hour and can wait to see the effects of your changes(much like real life) I think it's going to be a very enjoyable game.

I'm not sure how I missed this one but I didn't know it existed until I saw it here on Amazon
I'm not sure how I missed this one but I didn't know it existed until I saw it here on Amazon I found the demo somewhere downloaded it and played it and had to see a little bit more the graphics are very aged and don't come quite through and unless you can reminisce about old days past and if you can do that becomes a quite enjoyable city builder game with a little that of a twist on it that you could use a small upgrade to this day and age to a high definition version or just a version that would look like war craft three would be pleasing to the eye and gameplay

Not what I thought I was paying for. I had trouble understanding concepts and controls in the game.

Old Timer?
I've played Pharaoh and Cleopatra previously and I LOVE those games. This is definitely a new take on the old layout and you can get a more detailed idea of the people's influence to one another. I prefer the micromanagement of the old games as apposed to being more personable w/ the NPC's and their influence to one another. This game is what I would grade as 'Okay'- NOW- it is in general a pretty neat game if you've never experienced anything like this before. You can zoom in and out of your world and manage businesses largely on your population growth. Taxes and holidays, etc are managed by multiple choice edicts- money is no longer as food takes the place of deben. Therefore, sculpting and building your cities/civilization is less stressful when you're not constantly worrying about budgeting all expenses. ... but as my subject reads... I'm an old timer... and P & C had me at hello :)
