Organic Chemistry Molecular Model Student Kit - (88 Atoms and 140 Bond Parts) - MM-004

I purchased this set for my college Organic Chemistry class, and I must say, I am impressed. After researching for a few days and comparing this set with other models both sold on Amazon and from other sites, I concluded that this set would give me the most bang for my buck. Plus, it is eligible for Prime shipping! So how can you go wrong, really? It has a lot of pieces, enough for me to build and compare multiple molecules at once (I purchased the large set). I found that the atoms and bonds held together well, but still allowed me to manipulate their connections and easily visualize different chair conformations (which was the primary reason I purchased this set). As mentioned in other reviews, the box is a little flimsy, and probably wouldn't stay shut just bouncing around in a backpack. I plan to fix this by putting the entire box in a large ziploc bag, or using large rubber bands to hold it shut. The edges of the box cover also feel very sharp, but overall the pros of this purchase greatly outweigh the cons. Customer service is great, and I was contacted after my initial purchase of the set, and again upon its delivery! Very pleased with the quality of this set, and the seller! I would especially recommend this set to other college students.

If you're looking at this particular modeling set, then you've probably also seen Molymod and Prentice Hall's sets. THIS ONE IS BETTER! I've done a side-by-side, atom-by-atom comparison of several brands of ball-and-stick molecular modeling kits (for organic chemistry, not inorganic), and this one is BY FAR the most inclusive and practical. The smaller set (MM-003) is identical to Molymod's set, but has a few more of the same parts. But the larger set (MM-004) has more of the same parts AND several new parts, like trigonal bipyramidal phosphorus, bent sulfur, trigonal planar and octahedral metal, and all four halogens! It's even priced appropriately. MUCH cheaper and better than Prentice Hall; that one doesn't have ANY sulfur, phosphorus, or metal.My only complaint is that the box is way too big for the kit. You can see in my photo that the atoms are less than an inch high, and they form a single layer on the bottom of the box, but the box is 2.5 inches deep! I didn't include the bond pieces in the photo, but you get the idea. If you carry this box around with you, it'll make all kinds of noise.

Amazing model kit. The pieces are easy to fit with each other and it is also very easy to take apart. This means less stress on the hands and allows you to construct your molecules faster. The customer service is outstanding. As soon as my product was shipped, I was contacted by the seller to thank me for my purchase and to assure me that I was happy with it. As soon as it was delivered, I received another message from the seller asking me about how my model kit and I were doing. I appreciate the amount of dedication provided by this seller. Highly recommend this model kit on the basis of its quality, ease of use, and the exemplary customer service that comes with it!

Got this for my middle schooler as part of a school project, to get him started in thinking in a more sophisticated manner about chemistry. That Carbon is represented by the black beads made it very easy for him to remember which atom was which (carbon = coal = black). It was also great to see the conformation in 3D. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it was a little hard to fit the bonds into the atoms; it took a little extra pushing. On the other hand, that means it's not going to come apart while he's demonstrating it. I also intend to use it for my own work. All together, I would definitely buy it again.

I'm a university chemistry professor. I bought this kit for my 14 years old son. It is similar to the kits that my department offers to the students in the classroom but with more items. The quality is excellent and I know it's durable. The kit contains long bonds, short bonds and soft bonds with which you can make double bonds easily. The balls (elements) vary not only in colors but also in the numer of holes (electron configurations). For example, the black carbon ball has four holes with tetrahedral arrangement; the red oxygen has two holes with bent arrangement; etc. The seller emailed me a PDF manual even before the kit was delivered to me. I like the examples in the manual very much. The examples must have been thoughtfully selected by a chemist. They show you how to use the balls in various possible ways. For example, a phosphorus ball with five holes can be used for a trignal bipyramidal arrangement or a trignal planar arrangement. In a word, this is the best kit I decided to buy after searching Amazon for a few days and both my son and me like it.

I was looking for an affordable molecular modeling kit that had plenty of parts for building a larger number of molecules. I settled on this one and am glad I did. It has three sizes of connectors, the longest of which can be used for double bonds. The parts fit easily together, but tightly so they don't fall apart. This is almost identical to the one we have used in my college lab, so it works very well for my needs. The only thing that I did not like was that no guide book was included in the package. However, the company did send one as an attachment to an Amazon message. It is many pages long and would not have fit in the box. I'm glad I checked my messages or I might have missed it. I would buy again.

I love this model kit! I've gotten smaller ones before but this one is great because it has more pieces which allows for more intricate models. The bond pieces are durable and form stable connections but are still easy to remove. The company is even better than the product! The kit arrived on time and the owner personally emailed me instructions for my kit and checked to make sure that I was satisfied. I was so impressed that I decided to leave seller feedback (which I rarely do) and then the owner emailed me to personally thank me for my feedback!Bottom line: this is a great product and an even better company!
