Works well
This item works very well.yes. you will have to remove the little snap on the end of your strap (if you have one)no. it's not the end of the world (because I did it and the world didn't end lol )yes. you may have to secure your strap from flapping in the wind if it's a long strap.no. you don't have to cut it off, you can use various methods. I just put a couple of staples in mine and blacked them out with a magic marker. It's up inside the helmet to one side, so you cant see it.I know that's a little unusual, but after I adjusted it, I don't want it to move so no big deal for me.No one else wears my helmet, I have others for them. Plus if i needed to I could pull the staples out in a second.you can use any thing like these:http://www.amazon.com/20-Inch-Plastic-Triglides-Slides/dp/B003VSS8V6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1341418372&sr=8-2&keywords=plastic+triglidethey come in colors too... or you might find one from an old camera strap or something.you could use various things, even black tape would do. Bend a piece of coat hanger into a small rectangle... lot's of ways to get creative.Overall i LOVE this quick release. I have no idea if it will break in a high impact collision, but i don't think it will come un-buckled.I bought a brand new helmet that came with a quick release already on it (HAWK) helmet, and this quick release feels better made. You'd probably die from other injuries before this thing would break. I trust it.Ride safe everyone...(then we don't have to find out :)

Well worth the money.
I had to cut off the D rings to make this fit, but it is a really great product once installed. Easy on and easy off and holds the helmet securely. A good value and quick delivery.

install was easy even after a couple of beers
I got this because it is so much easier than having to loosen and tighten my strap each time. The problem is similar to what I think others experience in that, the strap doesn't stay tight. For the moment, I have pushed the strap back through the loop, but this is only a temporary fix. I will likely sew it or something. Either way, install was easy even after a couple of beers.

Helmet strap will not fit through this product unless you pop off the button, this ruining the button. Pain to assemble.
Pros:once on, it works well.Design of the latch makes it easily accessible and identifiable to the touch.Major Cons:Getting it on is a pain in the ass. The button on your helmet strap will NOT fit through the slit on the back buckle. You will be forced to take a screw driver and pop off the button, which will ruin it and force you to find a way to put another on, or wear it without buttoning up the excess strap length. The direction for putting this button on are horrible.Written directions with no visual pics to assist in directing. Overall:I would NOT purchase this again. In fact, the face that you have to pop off the button from your strap to get this product on, when there are other products out that don’t require it makes it a bad product to purchase in my opinion. If it weren’t for that fact, I’d give this at least 4 stars...

Not worth it
So I bought one of these a while back. Good idea but terrible I rode for a couple hundred miles and my neck was bruised up and looked like hickies

Works well, but $14?
I guess a buck ain't what it used to be and buyers of motorcycle gear seem to get hosed regularly, so why not this time? My wife wanted to know why helmets don't come with such a system, and I couldn't answer that one.Installed easily and seems durable but metal would have been better than plastic for the black piece.Should simplify suiting up for a ride, especially with gloves on!

Great quick release product
Great quick release product. Works just as described. For those folks who have complained about the strap loosening and having to be re-tightenedeach time, please consider this. Are you the only person wearing your helmet? If so then set it and forget it. After running the strap through the metal part, place the excess on the strap main strap, (lay the excess on top of the main strap , hope you get the picture) and wrap that excess to the strap in a couple of spots and the end with a few rounds of smooth black electrical tape so it won't move. If you gain or loose weight then cut the tape and reset the size. After the button part is cut off take a lighter and lightly heat the edge of the cut end, "melting it" so it doesn't frey.I have trained and raced harness horses for over 30 years, as well as being a motorcycle rider. We wear helmets every time we are on the race track. The helmets usually come with the clip connect, but this quick release is much easier. Myself as well as every driver/trainer I know has used the "tape down solution" for the excess strap ever since I can remember. And by using that method, the strap does not loosen. Hope this info helps.

Why didn't I get this sooner!!!
I don't know why I waited until a year after I got my helmet to buy this quick release. Very easy to install and works great even with gloves. The strap does loosen up a little but it's easy to tighten like others have said. I highly recommend this quick release if you have the normal double d ring setup.
