One of the best review textbooks
I am a teacher for 10+ years and having seen many books of this kind, I would say this is a very solid book for teaching Maths to students in year 4 of the primary school. The book is mostly follows a method in which students solve the problems by themselves for each chapter and then evaluate themselves by looking at the answers which are at the end of the book and count how many gems they have collected. They usually find it fun to do so and feel inclined to gather as many gems as possible. And if you are worried that they will just peak the answer and copy it, it will not work as they have to be able to demonstrate how they got to the answer in order to get the full gem bonus.I find this book ideal to give to my students as homework and count the gems they collected the next day. Another way to use it is as a review book during breaks such as the summer break, Xmas, half terms etc.The book itself is vividly coloured and also introduce us to two heroes who are going on an adventure. The students have to help those heroes answer the problems of the book in order to succeed in their mission. They will see follow-ups of how our heroes are doing every few pages. The book covers all the material that is taught in year 4 in the UK and then some. It is divided into many small chapters of 2 pages each which is good as you can easily split small amounts of homework for each day/week. There are about 90 pages of useful material after excluding the answers section and other supportive pages in the book. The difficulty level is medium towards advanced, so I would recommend to use it second as a practice book, after using an easier difficulty book first to introduce a student to a mathematical concept.

Very good.
This series of books have been great for our seven and ten year old. The maths and English books all use the Minecraft theme really well. Our two boys play the Kindle app version quite a bit so these really got their interest. We got a few of the age rangs of maths and English books, good for revision of the earlier learning during lockdowns and sharpening their skills they be are on now. The short sharp tasks around the Minecraft theme, characters, locations and stories gets them keen to complete tasks and earn emeralds. They have actually been asking to do the work booklets as extra homework! That is a first. Very pleased with this addition to the series. Excellent.Update: the reading each task needs gets them doing sneaky extra reading too. Win!
