Game changing cage!
This cage in combination with the visor are amazing. It's nice to feel fully protected, while having unparalleled visibility. I never have a problem with the visor fogging up and it's always nice and clear, I can breathe and I can see. Amazing product!

Great mask
This is a great facemask. I have always played with a visor because I don't like trying to see through the full face cage. But since everyone usually has the full face shield, people get a little lazy and sticks get up. More protection is needed. The full plastic face shield is unwearable because it fogs up quickly and then has zero visibility. The one piece combo that has a plastic visor and a metal cage for the mouth are usually pretty heavy. So this ingenious half mask is the perfect solution! It fits with an existing visor, giving me the visibility I want while providing me the protection I need to avoid costly dental work! Great product. Highly recommend!

Great 1st version of the product, but not perfect. Looking forward to updates in the future.
First off, kudos to the founders for taking a chance to innovate under challenging market conditions and in a space (facial protection) that hasn't seen any real progress over the last decade or more. I felt comfortable spending the $80 wires hoping that I'm contributing to funding the next generation hockey cages. I love the concept and being able to swap-in-out any visor is key. Here is my experience:1. Installation is a little complex if you have fat fingers and a bit of an art. Be patient and have a plan of action. Note: I did not follow Wargates installation recommendation. 2. The mounting points are very wide and flare out the helmet at the temples (see photos). This significantly changed the shape and fit of my helmet. Note: Likely because I did not follow the installation instructions.3. I loved the idea of not having a chin cup for the ‘cool factor’ and better airflow around the face, but after trying a few 'face-shots' I do not feel comfortable without a chin cup. I would recommend a floating chin cup vs what Wargate is recommending to do with a chin cup through the helmet strap. If they have a reason for favoring the helmet strap, I'd love to hear it. Here is what I would like to see improved:1. Narrower/lower profile design (perhaps two sizes?) so that when installed under the visor it does not flare out the temples of the helmet.2. A floating chin cup, not a chin cup strapped to the helmet strap.3. Redesigned mounting interface that conforms to the shape of the helmet and accommodates visor spacers on the outside of the cage (see photo).4. Less is more. The gladiator style/design is not my jam, but I know Wargate is pushing hard with this brand identity. Simpler shape and visual design would be my preference.All-in-all it's a great idea and a good product with a lot of potential to give folks the ability to improve visibility while maintaining safety. I'll endorse them, will continue to use the cage and hope they continue to improve on the design.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants visibility but won't sacrifice their face.
Don't know how it took so long for someone to release a product like this. You don't see much innovation in hockey outside of skates and sticks. This is everything I want in a mask. I hated the loss in visibility from a full cage, but also didn't like any of the hybrid masks I tried. They offer little to no flexibility, so if the built in visor wasn't what you were looking for, too bad. With the Wargate lower cage you can pick whatever shield you want and get the shield that matches your needs and budget. Field of view is incredible and yet I dont have to worry about getting my teeth knocked out or my face sliced open. If I was an NHL player getting banged around I might worry about the cage getting bumped around, but for beer league with minimal contact it is more than enough protection from contact while also keeping my face and teeth completely safe. Played my first game without a chin cup, may try next game with one just to see what works. Without was fine, but mentally I was looking for the chin cup the entire game, and i worry a little about taking a hit and having the metal cage smash into my chin.Cons - was a little tricky to install, but only about 10% harder than just installing a visor on its own would be. Just a lot of loose screws and other parts to hold all together at once while getting it put on. I ended up using my wife as a 2nd set of hands. Not sure I could have done it all myself. It's also a bit pricey for what it is (a wire half cage) at $80, but it got me to the result I wanted and there aren't any better options out there.

Built solid, works well
Cage is well built and works as intended. Visibility is infinitely better than with a standard cage, and it doesn't cause fogging like in a full face visor. Taking your bucket off is way easier due to the lack of side straps. The only complaint I have is that keeping all of the washers/spacers in order during installation is a little cumbersome. But once it's in place, everything stays tight. I've gotten many compliments and questions about it.

Are these approved by USA Hockey?
This is an awesome matchup for shield cage combo. I was warned by an official at my game tonight that this cage breaks a USA hockey rule for cage shield. He wasn’t officially sure and took a picture of it and I’ve asked the question to Wargate if these are approved by USA Hockey.

Great for non-contact league hockey.
This is a pretty awesome product. Works great great for a no contact hockey league and/or for a player with a full beard or someone who just hates shin cups. I’m not sure I’d use it in a full contact league without adding a chin cup because the cage does sit lower than a normal cage and if contacted hard enough the cage does have the possibility of contacting the lower face and even the neck. It will provide more than adequate protection from stray sticks and pucks.
