The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children

A source of inspiration and thoughtful hope
This is a book about those people of any age, but especially those under 20, who are trying to break through the complacency and crank turning of our present society. It's a hard job getting people's attention. And there are punishments for not thinking like the herd. It responds by shunning, isolation and outright abuse of those who think differently. If you can prove that you have the superior idea or plan, your are often hated, rejected or even threatened. So, this book tries to look into the minds of the new pioneers of culture and science and give them hope for the future by telling them that they are not alone and that that they have a grand purpose for their lives. There is an old joke that says that you can always tell who is a pioneer by the arrows sticking out of their back. For those who are pioneers, an explanation is needed. This book does a good job of giving that explanation. Why do they keep rocking the boat? Why won't they just shut up and get along? Why can they just be satisfied with the way things are? What is the purpose of their lives? This book gives the answers to these questions and also points to a better future for the rest of humanity. Give it a good read and think over the answers to these questions yourself.

A Gift to Myself :
I purchased this book to give to a woman with a child that I feel is an Indigo . I decided to read it before I gave it to her. As it turned out, it was a gift to myself. My entire life I have felt very " different " from everyone else and didn't understand why. In chapter one, there is a list of 17 characteristics of Indigo Children. As I read the list, I realized that I had answered "yes" to all but two of the questions. Since reading this book I feel a peace that I have never known before, it's great to know that you are not the only one on the planet that feels the things that you do. Anyone who has a child that has been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, please read this book, and then ask yourself, " Does my child really have these disorders or is there something else going on here ? " .

Must read if you're a sensitive soul or know someone who is
Wow. If you think you're "Indigo" or you're raising an Indigo this book will explain a LOT. I know people who have always felt different (like, the "black sheep") but couldn't put their finger on why.. then read this book and cried with joy because they finally understood. It also helped me in raising my "indigo" great advice for getting through life with this unique gift.

Good buuut...
I love the book and I'm a huge fan of Doreen Virtue but as an indigo, the book would only truly benefit parents of young indigo children and not so much indigos themselves. Of course, it's still full of enlightening information and helpful ideas, it would be used to the fullest more by struggling parents of full-blown indigos.

Excellent read! Very very helpful for parents and for the Indigo in your home!
Thanks Doreen for reassuring parents and Indigos that you're not alone. Excellent advice on what strategies are useful. Identifying your Indigo and the uniqueness of your child helps parents in their approaches. I have 2 teenagers that are very different, but are both Indigos. This book has been helpful for my kids to use their full potential, and not to be afraid. My girls now feel more confident in who they are and are proud of their role in this lifetime.

Interesting read
This is not one of the MOST helpful and influential books for me, but definitely a good read and it does offer a lot of good info. I would say this is a good book to have in your library when you are first starting out with this type of thing.

Useless book
This book and the other, similar ones I will comment on are all a rehash of one another. This is nothing more than a multitude of Barnum statements... Circular reasoning so that one false premise is reinforced by the next and the previous, but none of which stand on their own. A sprinkling of Astrology and a drizzle of tarot cards combine with an innate desire of every parent to believe that while everyone else's child is a monster, their own is somehow "gifted". Don't waste your time or money.

A need to learn
I loved this book, being an Indigo myself, it gave me an insight on how to be more gentler with myself, I had always known I was different. Surfing and researching the net gave me a lot of aha moments. I am able to now tune in to who I really am... and be more accepting of myself, and also identify with the children of my whanau, neices, nephews and even mokos....Fantastic read, fantastic gifted woman is Doreen... thank you arohanui Tania

Wonderful book!
Thank you Doreen Virtue! The care and feeding of indigo children should be a users manual for all parents and schools, this is the best Doreen Virtue book I have read to date, always love her books, it's like this book was written for both me and my family, thank you, thank you. You have given me a wonderful understanding of both myself and my daughter, the tools and understanding you have given me are priceless, it's given me permission to be myself and help to let go of the pain of the past, appreciation for the present and hope for the future, I use this book as a reference bible for my very active indigo child and to help heal my indigo wounds, God bless you!!!
