Trade off is it takes more time, but it does work very well. No smell at all.
I'm a sort of middle-of-the-road person. Not particularly fanatic about any of the various 'causes' that are trendy these days, but that doesn't mean I'm ok with waste or irresponsible use. It's just good sense to know your resources and take care of them. That's pretty much why I went looking for alternatives to the usual polish remover. Ok, and I have cruddy nails, too, and they all seemed to dry them out. There's a trade off for using this particular one and that is time. For myself, I don't mind it. I put a dot on the nail of each finger and watch a few youtube animal rescue videos or such. 5 or so mins, then put a little on a cotton round and rub.My nails have a lot of ridges and the thumb ones are especially deep, so sometimes I have to rub a fair bit to get the polish out, but in general it comes right off. The only polishes I use are Sally Hansen, a "color therapy" polish and the clear strengthener. Mostly I do 2 coats of color, but sometimes 3 if I just want a touchup. The method above has no trouble getting thru it.This is a thin oil. When I put the dot on my nails I don't squeeze the dropper, just touch it to the nail and a bit will spread out. You'll need to be careful what you do while you're waiting for it to dissolve enough to rub off, but again, I've had no trouble with it. I use my mouse, carefully, as needed w/o getting oil all over. The remover is absolutely free of any scent at all. Not even a natural odor that I could discern. That's a great thing for my allergies. What's more, I believe the claim that it's also a conditioner. I have Sally Hansen conditioning oil I use occasionally and my nails have the same non-dry look after using this remover as they do with the conditioner. In summary, I'm very happy with this product. I feel better about its biodegradable formula, its lack of scent, and the amount of product needed each use is similar to other removers.Ingredients: (definition sources: various info sites)soy methyl ester - methyl esters, derived from soybean oil, in the form of a clear liquid. They serve as a green alternative to harsher synthetic solvents.dimethyl glutarate - a diester of methyl alcohol and glutaric acid. Function(s): Solvent, ANTISTATIC; EMOLLIENTdimethyl adipate - the organic compound with the formula (CH2CH2CO2CH3)2. It is a colorless oily liquid. this diester is used as a plasticizer, a solvent for paint stripping and resins, and a pigment dispersant

Removes UV Gel Polish!!!! Only remover in this house from now on!
I waited a while to write my review of this product. I really wanted to provide a fair and accurate review. Here goes.I purchased this product for my daughter who wears UV gel polish. Acetone dries the heck out of the nails. It does a great job of removing the polish, but WOW can it dehydrate the nails. The thing that drew me to Pure Vitality 100% natural remover was the fact the nails looked so good after removing the polish. I figured it probably was great for regular old nail polish, but to remove UV gel polish, that was a different story. The company claimed the product did remove gel, so we gave it a try. Here is what we found. The first thing noticed was the lack of smell. That got a big thumbs up! We prepped the nails for polish removal as we had always done with acetone. Buff and file like crazy! First try, it took 2 hours to get the gel polish off. OUCH! 2 thumbs down. That was a lot of time, and probably not worth the effort. At this point in time, the review would have been a 2-3 star at best. It worked, but not in a reasonable amount of time. But, to be fair, we tried it again WITH tweaking. With our tweaks, we were able to remove all the tough gel polish in 16 minutes! Acetone takes 15 minutes. The extra minute was acceptable. Here is what we found made this polish remover work best for UV gel polish. We prepped the nails as usual, filing and buffing the gel polish. Don't be bashful when you buff gel polish! Remember, it is meant to withstand anything! We applied the Pure Vitality remover on the nails, we reapplied a drop to the nails EVERY 2 MINUTES, this kept the product on the nail constantly. The polish kept sucking up the remover, one set of drops is not enough for gel. After 10 minutes, we started working around the edge of the polish to lift it a bit (it did so easily), and applied more remover to the lifted area so it could get underneath the polish. We continued to apply a drop of the remover every 2 minutes until the 16 minute mark. The polish lifted right off the nails. BAM, off and done. Nails looked healthy. Not dry and icky. So, now this product went quickly to a 5 star review. I would give it more than that if possible. This is now the only polish remover my daughter will use. The bottle will last a while. Probably longer than a gallon of acetone! It looks barely used and we have done two removal jobs with heavy application. I highly recommend this product.

Quite pleased. Will purchase again.
I used this for the first time today on regular nail polish and Color Street strips and wanted to see how it'd compare to other removers.*Color Street: I used nail clips to hold cotton balls (soaked in different removers) and let them sit for five minutes. Then I removed the clips. I wasn't completely surprised, as the remover with acetone worked the best, non acetone worked second best, and then this remover came in third place. However, it still worked really well. After removing the soaked cotton ball, I soaked a new cotton ball in this remover and continued to rub and remove more polish until it was almost gone. I did finish the job with non acetone remover ONLY to save time.*Regular nail polish: I didn't even let it sit as the instructions say to do. I just soaked a cotton pad in this and started rubbing. It removed polish very well with not much effort.I'm very pleased with this product and it's what I'll use going forward. The mild scent is SO MUCH better than typical removers. I give it 4 stars over all because the expiration date is listed as less than two years from when I purchased it. Maybe that's typical for removers? It also takes a little more "elbow grease" to remove polish. Still a winner in my book though!

Seems healthier. Builds patience :-)
I'm assuming this product is much more gentle on my nails than either acetone or regular non-acetone removers, as it doesn't have a "toxic" smell. It's quite the effort (but I believe worth it for me, because I have weak nails). It removes multiple layers of dark polish with a gel topcoat, but I need to: (1) apply to nails and soak for 5 minutes (I read on my ipad, only touching the glass screen); (2) rub off as much as possible with a cotton ball (the "rougher" kind, not a flat cosmetic cotton pad); (3) reapply and soak again for 2 minutes (I wasn't doing this second soak at first, and it was a little faster, but I used way more remover and it was a lot more work); (4) rub again to remove the rest of the polish.

Great product but ridiculous new price.
I bought this product September 2019 for $35 CAD. I do my nails every week so I was looking for a product that would not damage my nails as much as acetone did. This product has the consistency of olive oil and it actually hydrates your nails after removing the polish. My nails have become so much healthier in the time I've used this remover and I've managed to grow them out with out any breaking. It does take longer than acetone but I personally don't mind spending more time if it means my nails are healthier. However, I will not be purchasing this product again because of the price increase, there's other natural nail polish removers that are just as good and cheaper, this is not worth $65 CAD.
