Good quality, worth the money
I’ve used a sword several times for costumes and other things.

An aesthetically and well made Dirk
This is a very exquisitely-looking piece. It’s solid and aesthetically crafted with a wooden and metal handle, and a Damascus blade which is considerably longer than expected. It’ll be a regular accessory with my kilt from now on at Celtic Festivals and Scottish Games and gatherings. The sheath is nothing to brag about, so I’ll be making a nicer leather sheath that really does the dirk justice.

Exceeded my expectations!
I wrote a previous review of this purchase, but unfortunately it never appeared on the site, a disturbing trend I’ve experienced with some frequency in recent months! Regardless, this was a great purchase in every way! The quality and craftsmanship exceeded my expectations & I did not experience any of the issues written in a couple other reviews. This is a solid, well-built & formidable weapon, sure to impress (and perform) on any level. I’ll wear it proudly with either my full dress or casual kilt attire. It’s always great to be pleasantly surprised with a purchase and this Dirk certainly did the trick! Great job ... thanks!

Real pattern welded blade or not, this thing is beautiful
I've never really held a pattern welded blade. Seen plenty in videos, but never held one. This was beautiful. Like all Scottish Dirks, the handle is round, and this one is well decorated. The sheath is nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Overall a great looking piece. No idea if it's a function al blade or not, but I'm not convinced that that's the point of this knife. For re-enacting, cosplay, or display this is a cool piece. It is sharp, so LARP or any kind of fighting is out.

Excellent wallhanger
This is a very well put together, gorgeous piece. It is not real damascus, but that's honestly fine for the price. It's soft steel, so don't expect it to be a practical piece. It only loses one star for not having a cap on the end of what is sn otherwise very sturdy full leather sheath. If you need a costume dirk for Renaissance Faire, this is the one.

Beautifully made!
Great weight and feel to the blade. Looks amazing. The sheath is very nicely made as well.

not a practical piece. to fragile
I rate my knives on a 5 point scale. reliability ease of maintenance, practicality fit and finish, and overall feel. it failed to be reliable. every knife I own goes through a brutal field test. I cut almost through a 2x4 and when I lightly hit the pommel of the knife to knock the wood off the handle broke. not to reliable. damascus can be difficult to maintain but the size and angle of the bevel on the edge makes it need specialized tools to sharpen. the size and how the clasp on the sheath is so loose makes it difficult to carry in the forest and in a car. the knife fails in all important aspects but on the plus side it looks and feels good. to sum it up the knife's handle is fragile and the knife tlis to big for daily use and to hard to sharpen without a small grinder to be of any use after the first couple times. dont buy!

Some attention to detail lacking.
Nice but with some irregularities. Cutting edge sharpened to not straight but barely noticeable. Some of the brass tacking on the handle is not spaced regularly. Finally, it is not damascus but is etched. As a result of the etching and sloppy handling when freshly done, I have a nice thumb print of the maker or his assistant. I will just plan on getting the damascus pattern polished off. For my purposes, a really good dirk. The steel appears to be good steel.

Came well oiled, no rust. It's rustic and substantial but fine details making it a real conversation piece. Good sheath I'm thrilled.

Over all this dirk is very nice, I beat the ever loving snot out of it, and it held up beautifully. Visually its a beautiful Specimen. The leathar sheath, is alright for what it is, it would have been perfect without the retaining strap and with a chape on the end, other then that it does its job. My only real complaint is with the edge itself, the grind dips down a bit in the weak of the blade about three inches from the tip. And the sharpness was lacking. Over all I would recommend this dirk.
