finally bought this bugger after an extended delay out of sheer necessity due to ever-increasing food prices (especially meats) - bummed we waited so long. this particular unit is fantastic; we've used it quite often since purchasing about a month ago & so far, so great!Likes:- sturdy, stainless steel, built like a tank, takes whatever you put in it w/ no issue(s)- clean up isn't too terribly bad either (5-6 parts n' pieces to clean w/ hot, sudsy water)- multiple inserts of various sizes to customize the grind sizeDislikes:- not that much really- the plunger tool is a bit cheap (plastic) but it does the jobConclusions: for the price, it can't be beat (IMO) & having it WILL (eventually) save you $$$ & basically pay for itself in short order. thus far, we've ground about 4 different cuts of beef, every bit of whole chickens, a variety of pork cuts, veal, venison & a whole turkey. once you try it, it's kinda' fun & addictive. wife has her Food Saver unit plugged in, handy & ready to go! we stocked up our small deep freeze about 1/2 full of ground, vacuum-sealed meats in about an hour and a half (from start to final cleanup) one Saturday after a trip to Costco & our local butcher shop. am not certain but would hazard a guess that this grinder has already paid for itself b/c we can 'buy in bulk', cut stuff up, then put it through the grinder and Wah-Lah... instant ground meats just like you'd buy prepackaged from your local grocer/ market! i'd highly recommend this product if you own a KitchenAid & were on the fence; totally worth the investment - at least for us. one small tip/ caveat: make sure your meats are almost FROZEN before you grind. room temp. meats or even refrigerated meats will be a MAJOR pain in the arse (we discovered). so, make sure whatever you're going to grind up is pretty darned COLD-to-slightly FROZEN! your results will be MUCH better & the mechanism will perform more efficiently too!

I'd become so disheartened trying to find a good quality grinder attachment for my KitchenAid mixer, but then I found this set. After many skinned up knuckles and finger tips from hand grating, I felt like I'd stuck gold! Right out of the box I was impressed. It's heavy, yes, but once I attached it (easily) to my stand mixer, it was solid! I grind fresh meat to freeze dry all varieties of meat, for dog food, as well as for home cooking, as well as for sandwich spreads (ham/bologna salad), and the variety of plate size is so helpful to get exactly what I'm needing. It did cost a bit more than others I'd found (and purchased), but being stainless makes it all so worth it, and a great deal for the price. I could put it in the dishwasher, which offers a great option if I don't want to hand wash, it washes up very easily! I highly recommend this set for anyone who wants a quality product.

To mix cheese whith Chicharrón for pupusas. And it works really good.

The attachment for the kitchen aid is really good and solid. Grinds meat well. Easy to attach and remove. The reason for the 4 bs 5vstars is the hopper. It is flimsy at the attachment site and moves very loosely. You have to hold it so that it is steady. This isn't efficient when trying to load and grind big quantities of meat. Other than that great product.

Now you can make home made sausage your way.

Defective! Bought as a Christmas gift after much searching & reviews. This seemed best choice made of stainless steel and had all components. Problem was NOTHING fit together properly so the entire thing was unusable!! It fit onto the mixer as an attachment but the shaft was too long for the blades and grinder plates to all fit together in order for it to work!! We tried every which way and it was clear that the individual pieces (blades, extrusion plates, etc...) were all off size and could not fit together when assembled! This was for a sous chef who definitely knows what he was doing so we were very surprised and extremely disappointed this thing even left the factory that way. And it wasn’t just a LITTLE off, it was 1/2 inch off. You could see the grooves and lips of each piece & how they SHOULD go. Had to return, now looking for another!! Unacceptable. Now, I don’t know which one to buy because definitely want stainless steel parts and this was sturdy if it had been made properly. Ridiculous waste of lots of time and sad as Christmas present for someone who really wanted a quality grinder sausage stuffer for their kitchen aid.

I was torn between getting this one or another version that was aluminum. I'm glad a dropped a little more money to get this one. It's super easy to clean in the dishwasher. I used it to process a deer I harvested this season. I then ended up with another deer that was given to my by highway patrol and this grinder once again went to work. Grinds meat up nicely. I messed around with using frozen and thawed meat. Works best when the meat is slightly frozen but still able to be squished a bit.

So easy to clean in the dish washer compared to my dedicated meat grinder which has a mix of aluminum and steel parts.
