Really interesting read and it works
My story. When my doctor told me I was on the fence on becoming diabetic, I knew I had to do something about my weight. I ride my bike 8-10 miles per day, joined a popular weight loss program, but I still could not lose weight. I'm 67 years old and weighed 242 lbs. I was told to get on a Mediterranean diet and to get the Pioppi book. My doctor put on my arm a glucose monitor so I can see how certain foods will raise my blood sugar. Very useful I might add. The first thing I did was research the author of this book. He's a very prominent cardiologist in the UK and specializes in obesity. His book can be controversial, but after you read it he does make sense (no matter what others think).Dr. Malhotra talks about is how people are programed about the fats we consume and blames this mostly on the food industry. People will buy low fat yogurt thinking it's healthy, but never think about the added sugar added to yogurt. He stated some studies how people on a low fat diet will still get diabetes and have heart issues. He really focuses in on the sugars/carbs and insulin. Insulin basically controls our body. The first thing Dr. Malhotra suggests is stopping ALL sugars for two weeks. This includes pasta, rice, bread, and other carbs. After two weeks, he said the craving for sweets would be gone. In my case, he was correct. After two weeks I don't crave sweets, bread, rice, or pasta. After four weeks, my fasting glucose levels have dropped from 125 prior to to 102. The glucose monitor in my arm really validates the book when I see my average glucose levels going down. Also, I seem to be having more energy and I just feel so much better.Being on this Mediterranean diet and following what the book says, I have lost weight. I started at 242 lbs and after four weeks my weight has dropped to 235. It hasn't been that difficult either. A lot easier than the popular diet membership I had. You have to watch what carbs you eat. The book explains what foods to avoid and what foods to eat. He explains processed foods and how bad they are. I eat a lot of lean meat, eggs, and veggies. My cholesterol hasn't gone up. The main issue I've been having is trying to find the right foods to eat at a restaurant. Like most people I can't live on salads. However, I have been able to adjust my eating habits by avoiding the foods that will increase my glucose levels out of my designated range. You really need the desire to lose weight. This book gave me the desire to do so after reading it. My wife is doing the same eating plan as me. She too has lost weight and she doesn't even exercise as much as I do. I think the people who give the book poor reviews didn't read the entire book or didn't try to understand what the author was actually suggesting. They probably never tried to implement the book's recommendations on how to eat healthier. For me, I enjoyed reading a book that goes against what our mind has been programmed to believe.

Excellent, sensible diet book
Excellent, sensible healthy diet. Dr Aseem & Donal have fully explained from start to finish why we should be using this diet (over the years we have been given wrong advice on healthy eating) This diet is very easy to follow, inclusive of foods to buy, exercises and menu's. Having started this diet I have lost weight, haven't had cravings or snacks between meals as meals are fulfilling, eating healthy and enjoying every meal, will need a new wardrobe shortly, no going back to the old ways. This is the way forward the NHS would be saving money by providing everyone with this book. The best purchase I have every made.

Interessante
Un libro che sta spopolando nel mondo, stile di vita e dieta quello di Pioppi e del cilento che sta cambiando le regole dell’alimentazione da 40 anni e tutti ci invidiano! da rivedere le ricette troppo adattate allo stile dello scrittore
