A-Z of Directors: Profiles of 100 of the world’s best movie directors, such as Alfred Hitchcock6. Top 100 Movies: The most influential movies of all time, such as King Kong, Gone with the Wind etc.Btw, the contents are previously published in “Eyewitness Companions: Film”. If you already have that book, you don’t have to get this one because it’s basically the same with some new photos. Anyway, this book is recommended for film lovers and DK book collectors!

The book itself is great, and has some fun pieces. It could be better, sure, but you can only do some much in a book this size and most books that go deeper on subject such as this are double the price at the least.Where things fall apart, however, is with the packaging the book is shipped in. The box is extremely flimsy and there is no packaging material inside to protect the book. My first package came with part of the spine of the book tore, so unreturned the product only to have my second package arrive (packaged in the same way) with a tear in a different part of the spine.In short, I recommend the book, but I cannot reccomend that you order it from Amazon if you can keep from it.

It comes in a clever and protective metal box, as if it actually contained a reel of film. This used book was in pristine condition, better than the seller described. I was (again) disappointed it did not contain more of the classic films being shown on TCM and AMC, Having purchased several books of this type, I realize no one book can possibly encompass all the films we may want to find. This book is an excellent addition to those I have of this genre. Gaps within each book are filled in by others. I've learned not to expect one book to have it all, and am pleased to have several excellent books to reference. This is one of them.

The old saying goes, "You get what you pay for." Contrary to this expression, there's also an expression which is one of my all time favorites, "Great things come in small packages." That's exactly what this item is. This is a Christmas gift for my brother whose a screenwriter and knows just about everything there is to know about film, and this will be a great reference, nonetheless, 'just in case there are a few things he doesn't yet know.'Came shipped in with two other gifts, but was wrapped well enough in foam wrapping. The collection is rather impressive from what I was able to see of it. The case is one of the more impressive features, being (out of steel/metal), whatever you wish to call it, which gives the book that "old-style reel look." I was originally going to purchase this at a mall book store, but they were sold out.Great thing about this collection, what I've heard from reviews that is, that this collection is really worth what the inexpensive cost is. I'm not one to judge from an entertainment-industry point of view, but as the brother to one who is, I believed it is most likely a great gift, especially with the references. Maybe he'll even allow me to borrow it from time to time.

I've only read about thirty pages so far. I've enjoyed reading about the genesis of the film industry. It's interesting to see just how far movies have advanced over the years. I enjoy reading about how "The Dream Factory" got started. It's kind of crazy to think of what the film industry looks lie today and what it looked like in it's infancy. I'm hoping, as I read on, that the book will supply me with caveats about individual movies.

I'm using it all the time during the pandemic to choose movies on Canopy and the Criterion Collection.

This book is so disappointing, it’s not worth $25 maybe about 10 bucks

Purchased the "Film Book" new and item arrived in two days (prime) in perfect condition. The book itself is beautiful...not too in depth for the novice film fan, but contains beautiful color images, and tracks most all the notable films in cinematic history. Plus, the mock, film tin container is a neat touch - an essential for any cinephile's library shelf.

Sadly the front of this book has a mark across it - interesting book all the same - a part refund would compensate for this rather than a return being necessary

I ordered this as iam a complete movie buff, this book is very good, I was pleasantly surprised. Well worth the money. Would highly recommend.

Bought as a gift which was very much liked.

This book contains the wide variety of movies. I was afraid that it would contain only box office hit masala movies or imdb list. But it has each and every genre, critically acclaimed as well and from all round the globe. Worth my money.
