Orchard Books Rainbow Magic: Evelyn the Mermicorn Fairy: Special
C**B
Not just one but THREE 5-chapter stories under one cover!
In my experience, this is a good series for encouraging developing readers who enjoy the magical world of fairies & goblins and like the added incentive of indulging in the ‘Rainbow Magic Reading Challenge’, detailed at the back of the book. This book is worth 2 stars! The current ‘LOOK INSIDE’ facility above gives an idea of the content to see whether it is the style for you & yours. From the back cover:🧚 ‘Evelyn the Mermicorn Fairy’s special magic gives people the confidence to believe in themselves. But when Jack Frost kidnaps her magical mermicorn, everyone starts to doubt their inner strength! Can Kirsty and Rachel stop him and save the day❓There are three magical gems in this book. Read on to see if Rachel, Kirsty and Evelyn can find them all!’ooOooPart of the ‘RAINBOW magic’ series, by Daisy Meadows*/Rainbow Magic Ltd/HIT Entertainment Limited + Illustrations © Orchard Books/2018*‘Daisy Meadows is a pseudonym used by the writers of Rainbow Magic, who are all hugely talented and successful authors in their own right.’ooOooMeasuring around 12.75 cm x 19.75 cm, the brightly coloured card cover, with a liberal sprinkling of shiny aqua enhancement to the front, opens to 158 reasonable quality, matte finish, (mostly) numbered pages, the 3 stories, each with 5 chapters running from page 11~149, namely: 1. Believing in Yourself 2. Speaking Your Mind 3. Helping Others...as shown in the CONTENTS at the front. Next up is a double page spread map drawing, then it is straight into the first story the first page of which is alongside ‘Jack Frost’s Spell’.Interspersed with black & white illustrations, the text is a good size in black throughout, occasionally CAPITALISED, for emphasis. Challenging words are included, in my experience. The last pages of the book give a ‘sneak peek’ at another title in the series, followed by a guide to the aforementioned ‘RAINBOW MAGIC’ reading scheme, with the inside back cover showing the 7 different coloured levels, climbing up from ‘FAIRY FAN’ to ‘ROYAL FAIRY!’ 👑10 images attached © as mentioned above

Thumbs up from an 8YO
So I haven’t personally read this book but I have a very hesitant to read 8 year old that read this entire book in 8 days and has now asked me to order more of this series of books... hence 5 stars! Just to put this into perspective she has now been out of school for 15 or so weeks due to corona and this is the only book she has read! Maybe they are actually magic...

Perfect for age 5-8
My little girl is 5 and a very competent reader. She loves this range of books as they provide her with enough challenge but aren't so hard that she can't enjoy reading them.
