HDMI is the standard digital interface for HD and the consumer electronics market and will continue to be fully backward compatible with earlier HDMI products. HDMI carries uncompressed audio, but is backward compatible with DVI for a digital video signal ONLY. HDMI to DVI adapters carry video only, not audio. These HDMI to DVI adapters support digital video formats.
