What size bulb does this use?

I don’t know I’ve never had a replace it.

How do you change the batteries? I can't find a way to open the magnifier.

The battery openng is on the backside of the magnifier. If you follow a straight line to the base of the handle from the light you will see the lever for opening up the battery area.
