Nice, well written
Nice, well written, based on true story and I don't know, it gives you this idea that most of the population in the prisons could be helped. So just keeping them there and taking care of them (or not even) is really a waste of resources and more emphasis should be given to their integration into the society and programs to get rid of the inequalities in the society (most of them do come from low social classes). So, yes, good connection between the story and the values we have...

Should have been called “13 Months Of Being Inconvenienced”
It was fine. I didn’t get the sense of any great plight on Kerman’s part, however. As far as prison goes. I’d say she had a pretty ok time. The people she was surrounded by, however, offered a much more realistic view of the US prison system. And those are the parts I found interesting.Kerman, however, I found quite unpleasant. Condescending. And very preoccupied with showing the reader how “down wit da cons” she was which I found quite embarrassing.

Great read
Brought as a gift for a grandma who says it like it is. She was warned by my auntie that it was explicit in the televised version so was a bit dubious BUT stated that it was not a rude book and said she was very surprise how much she enjoyed it... unless the sexual references went completely over her head whichef is possible.

Just as good as the tv show
It's pretty much the first couple of seasons of the tv show but names etc... are different so it's just as good to read.

Laugh out loud funny!
Brilliant book. Funny and engaging with a true account of what it's like to be in a minimum security prison. It's one of those books that you'll get through quickly because it's such an enjoyable read.
