Great addition to the original game
We love the original Carcassonne, and had wanted to add an expansion, but had no idea where to start. Under the Big Top was on sale for a great price, so I couldn't resist. It adds 3 new circus-themed elements. The acrobats are ok, in my opinion, and the ringmaster meeple can be helpful, but our favorite is definitely the actual big top circus tent itself. Every time a circus tile comes up, you put one of the tiny animal tiles upside-down underneath, so you don't see its value. Then, the next time a circus tile comes up, the traveling circus moves to the next tile, and the animal piece is revealed, with points from 1 (ant) to 7 (elephant). Any meeples on adjacent tiles score however many points are on that animal piece. It's such a fun element, especially for my kids (4, almost 7, and 10), who are all so excited to see if the high-scoring elephant will be hiding. This game expansion is great for adults and kids. Glad it was the first expansion we decided to buy.

Solid expansion worth the buy at -20$
I was worried this would add too many tokens and stuff but it’s actually great! The big top mechanic is really fun with a hint of gambling tossed in and the extra meeple is also great for bigger gamer. The acrobats didn’t get used much when we tried it but we had 4 full expansions going. They do seem like they are also a decent new mechanic.

Excellent expansion to an already great game!
We are big fans of Carcassonne in our house, and we were quite pleased with this expansion. It adds about 10-15 minutes of extra game play. The game pieces are cute (my daughter loves the ring master meeple) and are easy to add into the base game. We crack up every time we move a circus tent to find the Flea Circus tile and cheer whenever the Elephant is discovered. The acrobats and circus tents encourage more cooperative play as you follow the tent around the map. Highly recommend!

Excellent game play expansion, despite the new tile style of Z-Man games
The game design itself it great. The animal tokens and the new expansion make for very interesting game play scenarios. I had the original Rio Grande Games version of the base Carcassonne game and original expansions so the tiles are a bit of a different style now with Z-Man games producing the game. All in all, great addition.
