First Look & Finds are better than I Spy (level 1)
1) First and foremost, I recommend any of the First Look and Finds!!! By far the most instrumental tool we have in teaching our young talker new words. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED no matter which book you choose.2) All First Seek and Find books are very durable. Thick, sturdy pages. Easy to clean if needed. They hardly wear at all. For these reasons, I think buying the used ones for $4 (a penny plus $3.99 shipping) on amazon is just fine.3) About us: Our boy is 22 months old who loves trains, and LOVES Thomas!!! F.L. & F. books have been his favorite since he was 18 months old.4) This particular book is slightly unimpressive when compared to other first seek and finds (that's just my opinion). Not as much going on in the pictures to talk about and discuss. However, my toddler would completely disagree, this is his favorite seek and find book!!!5) These books are far better than the I SPY level one books (board books or paperback). The board books only have 2 objects to find per page, the paperbacks have 4-5 objects per page. Most First Seek and Find books have 7-8 objects per page. More bang for your book and it will keep your baby more interested.6) As another reviewer pointed out, these are books you can hand your children and automatically just love upon first sight. First seek and finds require a lot of interaction (at least in the beginning). They are books to aid you in TEACHING your children, as all books in your house should be!

It's official, "This is a good book".
I got First Look and Find: Thomas & Friends for my 3 year old grandson. The first time he saw the book, he immediately asked to see it. We got in the car and once in his carseat, the book fit neatly on his little lap and he started on the first page touching the images in the box, then locating each item in its place on the page. After he finished the book, he said, "This is a good book" and started it all over again. He wanted me to read it to him again at bedtime. The colors are vivid, it is surely developing pre-reading skills and the pages should stand up a good long while. Nicely done.

Great First Look and Find
These look and finds are perfect for our 3 year old (or a very patient 2.5 year old). The book is very durable. Some of the pages are a little more difficult than others. There are only a handful of items to find on each page, but that doesn't seem to bother her.

Kids enjoy it, could have been better.
Book is sturdy, kids love the big size and colorful pictures. Being about Thomas is definitely a plus as well. I bought it hoping it would be more like the Winnie the Pooh one I saw at the doctor's office, which has more basic things to find. Shapes, numbers, etc. Unfortunately that one seems to be out of print. This book has you find random objects like ice cream cones and cleaning supplies. Kids still like it, but it would be more practically useful if I could have used it to teach them shapes and numbers instead of random items. The kids skip right over the page where you find a bunch of cleaning supplies. I think there were probably lots of better ideas they could have gone with than that.

Great for 2 year olds!
Great books for a "book loving" 2 year old. They have easier pages and more difficult ones, and many many activities for each page so it's a book that will keep them engaged for a long time. Always something new to look at. These books are quite large though - so look at the dimensions to avoid any surprises!

Best Learning Tool for Toddlers!
As a mother of a 22 month old, I would recommend these My First Look and Find books to any parent. They have really taught my son so many words and helped him develop matching skills. He got his first look and find for Christmas at 18 months old (Elmo & Friends). This Thomas and Friends is for his birthday. The cover has been updated but the pages are still the same, which is fine. I can't wait till he sees this one!

I found this book a terrific early book
I found this book a terrific early book. It does a great job of introducing children to books when it shows things on the left hand page to be found in the right hand page. The little ones I have read this book with get excited because it challenges them at their level and gives them success without belittling their developing minds. Give kids success with books early on and reading becomes more enthusiastic later on.
