THIS IS NOT A GRAPHIC NOVEL
This is not a Graphic novel it like a normal book black and white with no pictures just in the end of each chapter I think but it’s still a great book

An okay book
A cute one for the fans if you’re really really interested in some short stories about the characters’ day to day lives. Emphasis on the cute, something about this book feels like it was written for children (I mean, not the typical 15+ that MHA shoots for). I think it’s partly due to the translation and localisation which seems a bit too literal and simplistic at times (and often leaves me floundering trying to figure out which character is saying what, a separate issue!). And the in detail descriptions of all the characters is odd, as if we’re just meeting them for the first time, did they think that non fans would be picking these up? Maybe! The stories are slice of life, almost too much, to the point of not really being that interesting or showing anything new about the characters. I feel like I don’t know anything more about the characters’ personal lives or personalities than I could get from watching the show or reading the manga etc, which I have. And the conflict at the end feels forced and a bit unrealistic, I shan’t say more though! But it felt off. I wouldn’t say this is Horikoshi’s finest hour haha. Still at least he tried, it’s a cool idea just with a lukewarm execution I felt. I doubt I’ll bother getting the remaining two volumes when they come out, alas.

Feels like feel arcs in book form.
Obviously these are side stories, for the most part they are all slice of life and don't really add much to the overall MHA story, other than reading your favourite characters in less life threatening situations. The writing is very basic which can be good for younger readers but I found myself losing interest rather quickly. As this is the volume 1 of the side stories it spends a lot of time introducing and recaping the events of MHA.I also thought this was a manga (like vigilantes) not a light novel.Overall if you want to consume every bit of MHA then you may like this however if you aren't bothered about slice of life and minor stories then I'd give this a pass
