Daily Meditation ESV Children Bible Player-English Standard Version Selected portions only

The ESV Kids Audio Bible Player is well made, and does everything as advertised. I am giving it five stars since my 8-year old likes listening to it and has learned more about the Bible because it is actual text versus condensed stories in Bible story books. She says her favorite part are the songs so that she doesn't get bored only listening to the Bible text. I have found that she has taken the initiative to listen to the Bible player on her own. In my opinion, any tool that helps kids learn more about the Bible and keeps their interest is worthy of consideration.I think that this Bible player would be good for kids starting around 5 or 6 years old. If the kids can listen to a longer Bible story and likes listening to songs, then this may be a good fit. Being able to read would be ideal to use the operating manual content index. It's also probably dependent on the temperament of the kids and their attention span. In the age of tablets, smart phones, game consoles, and the Internet, an audio-only device would be hard-pressed to compete for the attention of a child. In our family, we have time set aside for Bible reading, so this actual works well to add variety for Bible time. I feel that in order to best equip and train children, starting early with the Bible is important, and this Bible player is helping.One Sunday when my kids were sick and not able to go to church, we listened to the Bible player for 45 minutes. That's pretty impressive for my 8-year old and 5-year old. As a parent, listening with your kids and asking follow up questions (i.e. checking for comprehension, asking what they learned or found interesting) I think is an effective way for them to learn more about the Bible. They actually asked if they can stay home every week and listen to the Bible player instead, but I let them know fellowship with others is also an important aspect.Pros:--With the operating manual, navigation through the Bible text and songs is straightforward with the five control buttons.--Dramatized version of the ESV text helps add depth to the Bible and keeps the kids interest. Background music is a nice touch.--Kids like to hear the songs, and since they are included with the relevant Bible passage it adds meaning and context of the song.--The Bible player picks up from where you left off so you can continue easily without searching for your place.--Audio is clear and can be turned very loud. Battery lasts for a very long time.Cons:--Without the operating manual, it is difficult to find the desired content unless you have it memorized.--In the version I received, there is a transposing error in the operating manual on pages 7-9. The first column number was swapped with the middle column number, which was easy for me to figure out. I would expect this to be fixed in future editions.--Following along with a printed Bible in the New Testament is difficult, as there is no information on the scripture reference on the selected audio passages. The Old Testament tells you the scripture reference at the beginning of each section.Other observations:--When no buttons are pressed for a few minutes, it appears the buttons needs to be pressed twice for the control to occur. Perhaps it goes into a sleep mode, and the first button press wakes it up (with beep) so that it can respond to the next button press.--The "M" button at the bottom of the cross beeps but does not do anything on my player.--Button beeps are a constant volume and do not scale with the speaker volume.--The display does not have a backlight.

- Review by parentsWe first bought an adult version audio bible player that we can play in our car and we like it. Then we bought the children version for our kids. We have our two daughters listening to the bible player for about 20 mins after they go to bed. Sometimes they fall asleep while listening to the bible player and it is good to have them meditate on God’s Word before falling asleep. Sometimes we also play it in our car, and they like listening to this children version bible player while we drive. The dramatized version is good for kids. We like to have our kids listening to God’s Word daily and let the Word go into their hearts like seeds. It is valuable to have kids familiar with God’s Word since God’s Word is powerful. I highly recommend this children version bible player for parents.- Review by my 9 year old daughterI think that the Children bible player is a good way for kids to learn about God’s word. It is very suitable for kids to listen to and I think that it will prepare kids for reading the real bible later on in their life. I listen to it with my sister every night and it helps me go to sleep. It does not include every book in the bible, but mostly all of them. I hope that another version including all the books of the bible will come out. One thing about this bible is that it modifies the verses so that it is easier for kids to understand. This, I think, will really help when kids grow up and read the NIV bible or other versions of the traditional bible.- Review by my 11 year old daughterThe audio bible player is a creative way to learn about God and his Word. First of all,I like that it has fun songs that are based on the verses and other holy things. What I like about it most is that it has interesting voices to match the characters in the bible stories. I also like it when it plays music while they are telling the stories so you can sense the mood and feel the action better. Also the characters are talking instead of someone telling the stories so it’s easy to tell who is talking and you can feel like yours in the story. The buttons are easy to use and not confusing. It is an easy to carry size and very convenient. Me and my sister listen to the bible a lot thanks to the audio bible player. All in all I think the audio bible player is a very high quality bible player that encourages children to learn about God and makes learning about God a more fun thing to do for kids.

I have had this bible player just over a month and can’t return it now. For some reason it only works now when it is plugged in. Seems like a battery or charging issue.

The Wonder Kids Bible quit manufacturing theirs, and so I found this when ours quit working. My son was at first hesitant,, but he really likes it and plays it every night when he sleeps. The songs are not childish, but they are pretty cool.

Purchased this Bible Player as a request from my young son - and it has been a go to item for him since it's arrival (which was lightning quick!) The quality of this product is outstanding - it is very well made. It also comes packaged very well - so it handled transit nicely. As far as using the Bible Player - it was extremely easy for him to navigate and get to the verses he was looking for. Plus the added music and songs make the verses come to life even more than narration alone. Whether young or old - give this Bible Player a try - you will not be disappointed.

We will use these audio Bibles to help teach English to students in a Pre-School in a slum in Nairobi,Kenya (ages 3 yrs. to 7 yrs.). Not only is English essential for these children to learn, but to know they have a God that loves them. This product will teach the heart and mind and excited to see the long term affects. The producers of the product heard what we will be doing with these audio children's Bibles and has been very supportive and we hope to be able to send them reports of the Bibles in the classroom. The idea of an audio Bible was brought up by the teachers at the nursery school so we were excited to find them on Amazon. Thank you for helping us change children's lives.
