Excellent product
The Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free is a highly recommended option for those seeking a convenient and reliable wireless video doorbell. Its image quality and viewing angle are impressive, providing detailed footage and the ability to see the full length of someone at your door. With its sleek design and rechargeable battery, it is perfect for homes without an existing wired doorbell. The doorbell offers high-quality video footage and AI capabilities for motion detection alerts. It also comes with a three-month free trial of Arlo Smart, which includes cloud storage and advanced motion detection. However, some features require a subscription, and it cannot be used while being recharged. Overall, the Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free is a reliable choice, especially for those with other Arlo devices.

Amazon service great-arlo not so much.
I loved the Amazon service and quick delivery, as usual with Amazon; now, getting excellent service with arlo, but not so much. I had a difficult time getting the product online. This is my second Doorbell video from arlo, as the 1st was damaged and had to be replaced. The 1st doorbell was installed flawlessly. This one, not so much.It may have something to do with getting the serial into arlo database before it connects to your wi-fi 2ghz. After a couple of days, I finally got an actual person from tech to assist. Wouldn't you know if the phone connection was dropped? When I got a return call from the tech, I had the doorbell installed and working. But I remember providing the tech with the model & serial number, and she must have entered it because my doorbell finally connected to my home wi-fi!Sp, just beware: you may run into hiccups if you are trying to install a doorbell video. You will have to jump through a few hoops to reach a tech via phone so they can personally enter the credentials of the doorbell video. (This is by no means an Amazon issue; it falls upon Arlo solely).

Great for the intended use, poor motion detection/app
The doorbell is great, it has great image quality, it's easy to install. Night vision is great, very little noise. Battery life seems great and you can always buy a spare battery so you won't go without your doorbell while charging. The down sides are:1. 2.1Ghz wifi only. If your device is too far from your router, it will take some time to refresh.2. Poor motion detection options in the app. It won't let you disable it, only adjust sensitivity. And even if I set sensitivity to 1 (lowest), it will alert me whenever someone passes in front of it. It may be great for a house, not so cool for town houses/busy areas.3. You can set Activity zones (areas in the image where the device would trigger an alert if it detects motion), but these doesn't seem to be taken into consideration if you leave alerts enabled.Overall, it is a great product. The motion detection feature might work better for houses than townhouses and/or areas with lots of pedestrian traffic.

Inconsistent Performance Basically Makes It Useless
I got this because I needed a battery powered doorbell cam. When it works, it's great, but the performance is so inconsistent that I'm looking into replacement options after 18 months of ownership.Pros:When it actually works, the live view audio and video are pretty clearBattery life is greatCons:Doesn't stay connected to wifi. I have a very strong wireless signal that reaches well beyond the front of my house. I prioritized the Arlo as the #1 device on my 2.4ghz network, and yet it is still constantly saying that it is disconnected from wifi. I have to remove the battery to power it off and on and get it to reconnect. I have never had this kind of issue with any other devices on my network, including cameras of another brand.Motion Detection Clip Recording Sucks. Very inconsistent. It will send a motion alert, but not actually record the portion that shows the main action. Example: I'll get a "Person" alert, but the recorded clip doesn't begin until they are walking away and are nearly already out of frame. Same with vehicles. It might catch the tail end of one driving away.Subscription Plan. They don't make this very clear at purchase, but if you want to actually get various alert types or have the ability to view and record clips, you have to subscribe to their monthly service, which of course, is not free.Generally Unreliable. In the time that I've had this doorbell, I have only had a seamless experience when someone presses the button, twice. Meaning, someone rings the bell, the app rings on the phone, I can actually connect and see/hear/talk to them. Most of the time, I try to answer and the app just gets stuck trying to connect to the doorbell. I have an iphone and I regularly check to make sure that I'm using the latest version of the Arlo app. My Echo Show is also rarely able to connect to it for a live view/conversation.The App Sucks. It seems like there is always something wrong with it. They'll fix one thing in an update, but break something else in the process. It shows pending notifications for days old alerts and won't clear them. Slow and unreliable to connect to the doorbell itself. Live view of the doorbell rarely works and says that the doorbell isn't connected to wifi even though it is still sending me motion clips and alert notifications.I really wanted to like this camera, but it has caused more hassle and frustration than it's worth. I will absolutely never buy another Arlo product and I would not recommend this camera to anyone.
