Guatemala
I was the "Secret" reader for my granddaughter's 4th grade class. I read the book to the class. I wished that it would have talked a little more about knitting and the looms used. How they colored the dye. I had gone on a mission trip....I was able to add things that were interesting. I left the book in the classroom for 3 weeks and it was well worn when I got it back. You must ask to take a picture. This mama was in the market selling her goods. The children are carried everywhere.

ABC fact book on Guatemalla
I did not like this book as much as the one on Costa Rica. I felt there was too much repetition of topics and not enough variety. So if you are trying to pick just one book for Central America - go with Costa Rica instead.

Great way to learn
This book was beautifully written . My wife is from Guatemala , and we have two small children. She was excited to find a piece of her country to show our children. Thank you so much for the quick delivery

Nicely done, not spectacular
Colorful book with some interesting information about Guatemala. This is an intermediate book, not really for older readers and not an "ABC" book that you would show a toddler. I plan to show it to my youngest when he is 4 or so. The drawing are good but not great. The information is a bit superficial and the "Fast facts" are an odd addition. The "fast fact" info should just be part of the text; I don't know why they are "fast".

good book
My 7 yo daughter likes this book with information and life pertaining to her birth country of Guatemala. We have purchased a number of books about Guatemala to keep by her bedside. She loves them and having this one (and a number of others) helps her with this connection to her country that makes her feel good. I would recommend getting lots of books so that your child can choose from many--the ones that "speak" to them, particularly with issues of adoption.Cranston, RI

Beautiful book.
I bought this for my son. My parents are from Guatemala and I wanted my son to know about his heritage. I love this book so much.

Best Christmas present!
My son already loves this book! He is still so tiny but loves the pictures and hearing me read to him about Guatemala!

Too many details -- not the ABC book I was expecting
My two first graders were adopted from Guatemala and have expressed interest in their birth country. This book and the reviews seemed like it would fit the bill. But there are fare too many words on a page, too many details that are not of interest to beginners. It is nicely illustrated. Might be good for a third grader, though I don't know that a third grader would want to be seen with an ABC book.
