Happy with it
Metal detectors can be a bit flakey. This one has mixed reviews, BUT, it's a little tricky to calibrate, so I'm guessing those that gave it bad review or said it didn't work, didn't have it calibrated correctly. I chose this model because it's waterproof, so can be used to scan under water, making it great for beaches and lake shores. It's definitely one of the better amateur models and will suit your needs well, if you're looking to have fun detecting. It has a large readout screen and can be set to find specific metals, or metals as a whole. If you're a die hard detector hobbyist, you'll probably want to step up into a more expensive model.

A decent starter for the price
I haven't had the chance to take this thing out too often, but for the price it was a really good pick. It works well, but the display is a bit complicated and will take a bit of time to learn to read and set up properly.
