Surprisingly excellent
My poor dog struggles with hotspots and I have used a few types of collars on him looking for one that is durable but comfortable. This one is surprisingly effective, comfortable, soft, and he adjusted to it almost immediately! He can sleep, eat and drink easily in it. He's a Great Pyrenees with a lot of hair around his chunky neck (around 23 inches) and the extra large fits great. It's easy to get on and off and hopefully will wash well because that's the only drawback —they drool all over the bottom of it and it gets filthy very quickly.

Better than most
Better than most. E collars in general are not so great. My dog has had to wear this twice now for extended periods of time, like 2-8 weeks in a stretch. I think he finds it comfortable and enjoys that it gives visibility. He has less problems navigating with this than other collars (walks into things less) and it keeps him off of wounds anywhere on his body. It does tend to flop down in front of their face after being washed once, so I pin the top back with a safety pin so that it isn’t flopping. Other than that it washes very well. I do hang dry it. The sizing chart is wrong. You should buy one size bigger than the chart indicates. My dogs neck is 17 inches and he wears an extra large. I don’t think if your dogs neck is bigger than 17 inches by much that you will be able to have this fit. He pretty much maxes it out. It’s not perfect, but it’s my favorite e collar that we have tried so far. It lasts as long as you can tolerate it flopping in their face, which get worse after every wash. Personally, after he wore it the first time for 8 weeks and it had been washed several times, I replaced it with a new one (same collar) so it would be less floppy the next time he needed it.

Perfect for after surgery or any time
This product is light the dog can see through it but can’t bite through it and it’s long enough that it cannot bite feet, etc.. I have bought lots of cones because my dog has had a lot of surgeries and this is by far the best and not as cruel to the dog.

To collapsible
This great when the dog is walking around but when they lay down it collapses around their face and there's no space for air and breathing except out of the front. I would not buy it again

Finally, a cone that works
I have a 9 lb sweetie and as most small dogs, he tends to have itchy skin. I have tried 3 different types, inflatable and the hard plastic ones sold at pet stores. My daughter uses this one on her Lil guy so I tried it. It fit and it's way more comfortable than the others and he doesn't fight me when I put it on. Highly recommend it and it folds to nothing so it's easy to take anywhere.

Softer cone that's still effective.
Visibility is good. Easier to sleep/eat in. More comfortable than the plastic.

Give it a couple days, trust me!
I don't write a ton of reviews, but as a dog lover, felt the need to set some fellow pup owners at ease. I don't have much experience with "cones of shame", but this one so far has been great. Like anyone reading this, I felt horrible about throwing one of these on my dog, but Ive been reassured now.The first time you put it on you feel horrible, and they look so confused. I know all dogs react differently, but I doubt any of them got super happy about the situation. Just tell yourself like I did, this is on for a reason, and you wont heal without it. I leave my 100# dog home during the day at work with plenty of time to try an get at his paw, which I seriously thought he would even with this cone, but it didn't happen. After the 3rd day or so, you see a noticeable change in how they cope with the cone. They "smile" at you when you get home like usual and really seem ok with the situation. This brings me to the actual product review. This soft aspect of the cone end up being the key I think. Your dog isn't used to having their path interrupted by accessories and like mine, will probably be very confused. After a couple days though, you can see them navigating as if it weren't on. They will hit a door jam, and they will continue on by like normal, rather than stop and spin around all confused at what is going on.The construction seems pretty good, and materials sturdy. The one exception being the straps that the collar threads through. Those appear to be fairly flimsy, however other than looks, there is no evidence that is the case. My dog hasn't tried to rip it off, breaking the straps, nor has he damaged it in any way. He is also one of those dogs that can kill any type of heavy duty chew tow in a half an hour. The only other drawback would be the placement of the velcro. The craftsmanship if great, but the strips are thin and radiate out, so depending on your dogs neck size, it may take some trial and error in fitting. You definitely want to have as much velcro in contact to keep the cone shape.Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cone. I realize all dogs are not the same, but trust me, if you leave the collar on and otherwise act as if nothing is different, they will adjust and you wont feel so bad! You will see the benefit of it being a soft cone after a couple days too, as your dog will know when he can just keep on going as normal as they learn that the cone will flex and give.I would recommend if possible to have someone home with them during the first couple days to do some adjustments as needed. If you see them almost compromising the cone, you can learn and make little adjustments until their efforts at removing it are all defeated. As we all know, once they are successful in defeating it once, nothing will stop them. This is a good product and if used correctly will serve you and your pup well.Hope this helps!

It works BUT big dogs will split the plastic pieces after a while with their claws..
2nd one I've bought. They stop ear scratching and dog can sort if see where they're going. However, they scratch the cone instead of ears and split the clear plastic and shredded the material. You would expect it to last longer than a few weeks even if it us a big dog scratching the cone.I have no choice but to use these as the plastic ones send him into melt down and they split from banging door frames or walls. If this is to be used for an extended period of time expect it to fall apart. But for a few days use at a time this is a very good product.

Good option for recovery
My dog has dermatitis on her head. She accepts the plastic cone but I can see how uncomfortable she is. Also she was smashing into everything with it. This cone is way more comfortable for her. She still cannot get to her rash on her head. Plus she kinda looks like Dracula or a dinosaur.

It’s comfortable, but flimsy
It is comfortable, the dog can see their surroundings. But it’s really flimsy, when my dog is sitting down it falls right over his eyes so he can’t see. Other than that it’s a good product.
