Tasty little fish at a good value price
I like sardines. For that reason I don't buy them in tomato sauce because I want to taste the fish. I usually buy them in oil or water. I was a little nervous about the "Canadian Style" tag and the fact that these sardines are not true sardines (Sardina Pilchardus) but are, in fact small Atlantic Herrings (Clupea Harengus). On opening the tin I found that they look and smell very much like sardines. Depending on size, you get 5 or 6 fish in a tin. Once mashed up on some buttered toast, the taste test found them to be slightly different in flavour to true sardines but not in a bad way. They were delicious. I poured the oil/water liquid from the tin into the dogs' bowls and they both though it was quite a treat. I'm now down to my last 2 tins and about to order some more. I would definitely buy these "Canadian Style sardines" again, but his time I'll try the Tropical Sun sardines in sunflower oil, which come from Morocco, so I assume will be true sardines. I'll see how they compare.

A Refreshing Change: Tropical Sun Sardines in Sunflower Oil
As a long-time sardine enthusiast with a preference for Portuguese sardines in olive oil, I was curious to try Tropical Sun Sardines in Sunflower Oil. This was my first experience with sardines manufactured outside of Portugal and in sunflower oil. Here's my take on this new culinary adventure.Packaging: The packaging of Tropical Sun Sardines is decent, although I noticed that the cans were slightly bent. This is not uncommon for canned sardines, as the metal containers can be easily bent during transportation or storage. However, the bending didn't affect the product inside.Smell: Unfortunately, the metal container had an unpleasant smell, which may have resulted from spilled oil in the batch I received. This suggests that there might have been some oil leakage during the manufacturing or distribution process, which could be an area for improvement.Taste: I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the sardines in sunflower oil. The sunflower oil doesn't have a strong flavor, allowing the natural taste of the sardines to shine through. While I am a fan of olive oil, I appreciated that the sunflower oil didn't overpower the sardines with the spiciness often found in extra virgin olive oil.Nutrition: Tropical Sun Sardines are a great source of protein, making them an excellent addition to a healthy diet. As long as you don't have a fish allergy, these sardines can help enhance your protein intake. Moreover, the sunflower oil provides extra fat, making these sardines suitable for those following paleo or keto diets.Overall, my experience with Tropical Sun Sardines in Sunflower Oil was a positive one. While there were some issues with the packaging and smell, the taste and nutritional benefits more than made up for it. As a newcomer to African (Moroccan) sunflower oil-based sardines, I am excited to continue exploring this new realm of flavors.

Bulk buy Canadian brand sardines
Quite good value for money. And the can size is slightly weightier in grams than some other brands.A different taste than my usual brand.Handy buying in bulk if you know you're going to eat sardines regularly.I'm pleased with the product and may reorder.

I wouldn't take it even for free!
The only good thing about this product was the can. The taste is terrible, or better said, there is no taste at all. It says "in olive oil", they must have been joking when they wrote that or just wanted to make fun of the buyer.. Really angry because I have 12 of these cans... for wasted money. 0 stars ..
