Easy to read and understand
Good book for laymen to understand economics. Highly recommend to those who are at the starting point to understand our society.

Great Summary of Key Concepts for the Beginner
I was an Econ major (many years ago in college). My daughter is about to take her first Econ class and wanted me to recommend a good book to read before her class to get a basic understanding of key concepts, in plain English, for the non-economist. After searching on Amazon, we bought this book for her. It was a great choice. I read it, and think it does a fantastic job of covering a lot of concepts, but doing so very simply, in plain English, with real world, simple examples. I used to tutor Economics when I was in college, I found that using these real world examples made all the difference when trying to explain and simplify complex concepts in Econ.

Great book for beginners
It started explaining concepts with very simple examples but I feel like after the middle it just became a dictionary for some of the terms.

Must read for a better world understanding!
Economics can be quite confusing, this book does its best to sum it and chew it up, great reading. Enjoy

Good for what it is
This book is a lay person's guide to basic economics. It's a popular text, not an academic text, so don't expect a thorough grounding in economic theory. It is laid ot as a series of articles of two to three pages on a variety of fundamental concepts, like "How do Banks Create Money?" The text is clearly-written common sense, with no math or accounting background required, and a minimum of economic modeling. I do have a background in Economics, so I use the book as a reference when I need to explain an economic concept to non-economic folks. Recommended.

Got me an A grade
The book was fascinating, I am an amateur in economics as it is my first year in high school; I had gotten a C grade and once I started reading this book my grades skyrocketed. I recommend it a lot

Just definitions not much more.
I got this book with the intention to gain an understanding of what is currently going on in the USA and its implications. The book did not meet my expectations, and I did read it cover to cover. This book is just a dictionary for economic terms; it does not delve into details at all. If all you want out of this book is to gain a surface level understanding of economic buzz words that one may hear on the news, then may I suggest just ask Mr. Google (you will definitely learn more). There are absolutely no details in this book. If one wants to know cause and effect, one will be disappointed. There are times where the author mentions A may lead to B but does not explain why. A good analogy for this book is like a dinner recipe that lists out the ingredients only but does not tell you the procedure or steps or what ingredient leads to what flavor profile.I was taken aback by the sheer number of chapters in this book. There are so many that the writer didn't even bother numbering them. Each chapter is 3-5pages. The author should have condensed the dictionary-style 65 chapters into 9-10 ones that clearly explain the topic and its influence on the greater economy. Economics is a study of cause and effect, and unfortunately, this isn't a good economics book. This book isn't meant for anyone who has some idea of economics. This book is meant for a person who does not even have a highschooler's knowledge of economics. It's an easy read though. I will not return this book, but I will be buying college level textbooks to enhance my knowledge and understanding.
