This is exactly what I needed. I have a lot of old slides that I wanted to convert to a DVD but couldn't decide which ones to keep, peering at them held up to a light. The Panavue is perfect for loading up several slides, viewing them, and choosing which need to immortalized. The ease of use and large, bright viewing area are perfect for the job.

small and portable, yes. automatic? no. I was expecting a system to take a load of slides and move them along like an old time carrousel. nothing of the sort. you have to manually move each side in and out for viewing. there is no on/off switch. if you forget to unplug the power cord, even with the cover on, the bulb will burn out prematurely. this reminds me of something left over from the 80's. total waste of money.

This gizmo was exactly what I needed! Too bad I only discovered it after wasting money & time on other useless products in my attempts to view my slides for organizational purposes.

Slides fall through 2 at a time every now and then but still MUCH easier than looking at them one by one with a single viewer.

Poor quality: small screen, light, sticky slide mechanism.

It came in very useful and I really like it.

This thing is a piece of junk, a conclusion which took me only about a half an hour to reach. The slides keep getting jammed, which is extremely frustrating. At one point a slide became so stuck it took me about 20 minutes to extract it. The mechanism to push the slide in/out simply doesn't work, and trying to load in 36 at a time, as it said you can do, makes the problem even worse. I am going to return this and stick with a slide machine my father bought literally about 50 years ago which I thought the Pana-Vue machine would be better than, but it clearly isn't, That slide viewer is called "Argus 693 Electromatic" and is available (used) on Ebay for a song -- a lot less than this way-overpriced Pana-Vue viewer. More importantly, it works. Not only that, but rather than having to push in/pull out the drawer (for lack of a better name) for each slide as you have to do on the Pana-Vue, the Argus has a knob you turn on/off, which pulls the slides in automatically. Even with this machine slides do get stuck from time to time but far less frequently. -- This is yet another case where something made long ago is actually better than the product which comes out later and is supposed to be better.
