My 2" slides are in 3 mm thick plastic mounts. Will these go through the slide adapter of the DigitNow film scanner?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe they will. I have only used it with paper mounts but they appear to be around 3mm thick and they work fine.

Does this work with 16mm reels?

If you expect this to digitize a film reel, then no. It digitizes ONE FRAME AT A TIME. That is, one frame, one file. If you have 20 years you could digitize a movie.

DigitNow unit does not read external 32gb sd card, screen reads no sd card ?. Have tried other cards, same result. Why?

Make sure the SD card is inserted with the label DOWN! I tried to insert the card face up and got the same error. The (poor) manual never mentions this.

Can I scan it to a usb flash drive?

In my experience, the only way to do that is to scan to internal memory on the Digitnow (internal memory is limited in size), then transfer the files from internal memory to your laptop, then to a flash drive. There is no slot on the Digitnow to accommodate a flash drive, only a slot for a SD card. (Obviously you also can scan to the SD card, transfer to your laptop and then to a flash drive, but there is no option to scan directly to a flash drive.)
