I hadn't realised just how blunt my over ten year old original Microplane zester had become. I remember when I first got it, having used a knuckle-shredding box grater for years, and being a lemon meringue pie-making fanatic, the experience of suddenly being able to whip the hide off a lemon in under 20 seconds was positively transcendental. Seriously, I think I heard choirs of angels sing... Fast forward a decade and my overworked zero hours contract grater slave was showing its age. I suddenly realised it was getting tough to grate nutmeg without putting my shoulder out. So I decided to buy the same model again. Looked on Amazon and saw it had increased markedly in price and I noticed this very reasonably priced, non-branded version as an alternative. Would it be a cheap knock-off I wondered? Could it live up to the original? Buy cheap buy twice, the voice of my mother whispered in my ear. Glad to say I ignored her because this grater is excellent. Super-sharp and magically effective at lemon zestery. So effective that it manages to take the pith off too if you don't ease up a bit. The only thing I miss about the last Microplane is the ability to zest using the actual edges of the grater, which allowed you to get every last little nanometer of zest from that nubby little point at either end. Obviously there are no edges to this version, but that's a small issue which is more than compensated for by its sharpness and speed, and its bargain price. Buy with confidence, my lemon-loving brethren!

This is the best zester I have owned, great value and the brushes are a dream, be careful it is very sharp.

Does exactly what it should

Exactly as expected. Does the job, easy to hold. Seems sturdy and sharp. Not too heavy, has been used 5 times now on lemons and does a great job.

I have bought a few zesters in my time and this is the sharpest one so far. It was easy to handle, didn't take off too much of the skin, and made zesting the citrus a breeze. It is also the only one I have ever bought that came with cleaning tools, a great bonus!

This grater is EXCELLENT in Quality and It is very sharp and has a strong Handel grip! And shredding ginger, lemon and carrot is super easy!
