Gale Force Nine Star Trek Ascendancy

After playing this game many times I can safely say with some authority that its awesome!Each game is completely different, thanks to the ever growing organic map which the players slowly create as they explore and the random exploration cards with each planet discovered. Such deep thick layers of tactics in just placing planets and creating space lanes!There are multiple routes you can pursue when it comes to developing your empire and many many different ways to reach ultimate victory.The Star Trek theme is spot on, it oozes it at every point in the game, but its basically an excellent strategy game and even if you don't know much about Star Trek you'll have fun - if you like strategy games.As others have said its a long slog sometimes with games lasting 3-6 hours for us but its great fun all the way if you add beer and snacks.People have complained about downtimes between player turns but once everyone is familiar with the rules your turn comes round quickly and if you are a serious strategy gamer your too busy watching what everyone else is doing and planning your next move to get bored anytime soon.Expansions are on the way in the form of new factions but even without this, this is a game that you will play over and over again with different results each time.

No issues or problems with this at all, and am very happy with the game. Our first go did take a good few hours, but I suspect you can play an entire game within about 2.5-3 hrs once you know what you're doing... A lot of the time was wasted double-checking rules 'just in case' we'd got it wrong...

Great quality board and pieces but super complex. It took as ages to work out the rules and it plays quite slowly. I think there are flaws with the game which the company needs to look at improving. Its ok overall but we played exclusively for a few weeks just to be familiar with how to plays but after that lost interest.

Good flavour, nice complexity could do with an index in the rule book but otherwise top notch.
