An illuminating experience, and a bright idea, who's time has come!
This is a real beamer! Brilliant! Seriously, it's a bright idea. The beam is very bright, but a bit tight for my tastes. I prefer to light up what's around me a bit more than what's directly ahead, because I walk to, and from the groceries at night. I use a personal shopping cart, which I used to Velcro strap a light to. Unfortunately, I was always running out of batteries with my old light, so this is a real treat. I like this light can be recharged via a USB cable you plug into your PC, or 5V charger. The light came with about half a charge, so I went on, and charged the rest of the way up. Didn't take but about a couple of hours. to finish charging. My cart uses tubes which are considerably narrower in diameter than a bicycle's handlebars, but the rubber straps the light came with fit nice, and snug, yet I was still able to adjust the light as needed, no problem. My only gripe is the included tail light needs two wafer batteries which were included. I guess it'll run far longer than the headlight since it's output is very low, and only meant as a visual aid for drivers to see you without being blinded. Don't forget to open the taillight, and remove the bit of paper from between the batteries. You don't open it via the screw. You just twist the two black halves, and those bits unscrew from each other, no problem. The taillight operates by pressing in on the light's face. Once for full on, again for rapid flash, and once more for slower flash, and again for powering off.The headlight works similarly, only with each successive press of the button, you get a dimmer setting, followed by flashing, and then off.I like that you can check power remaining by holding the headlight's power button a few seconds, and then the headlight flashes a certain number of times, depending on how much power remains. 10 flashes, all good, fully charged. The headlight also warns you of impending power drain by turning the blue light in the button to red, and then powering down off on it's own. Best not to let it get that low, as doing so will shorten the battery's life. If, like me, you have to go shopping on foot at night, I find the best place to mount the headlight on a shopping cart is the front, center. The taillight is best placed on the hand grip, near top of the basket, but facing out, to the side, and toward the rear. This way, when crossing a street, and still not lit by an oncoming car's headlights, the taillight will be seen better by drivers. In the U.S., place taillight on the left side of handle. In the U.K. place taillight on the right. However, I went ahead, and got two of these light kits, because you just never know when you'll be crossing a one-way with traffic approaching from the side of you opposite where it normally comes from. You can also use two headlights on the front to light up a wider area, too.Because I don't like how narrow the beam is from the headlight, I found a sneaky way of widening the beam without sacrificing too much brightness. Just take a frosted bit of sticky tape, and apply it to the lens of the headlight. You'll get about a 30, to 40% wider beam, and it's only a wee bit dimmer. Don't put the headlight on the handlebar of your shopping cart, as the front of the cart will block the beam while you're walking, and the cart is tilted back toward you. Only the taillights should go there.I also liked that the light kit came in a nice hard box with magnetic catches for long term storage when not mounted. The USB cable (included) was easy to use. Just pull the rubber micro USB port cover open (don't tear off), and plug in.Oh, the LED inside the headlight is the Cre LED, which is EXTREMELY bright, which explains why it only runs about 1, to 2 hours, depending on brightness. DON'T STARE INTO THE HEADLIGHT WHEN ON! Yeh, it's that bloody bright.

and they could break down and become useless at any point
ok, i have only had these bike lights for a couple of weeks, and they could break down and become useless at any point, i suppose, but.... at this point, i am really impressed with them.i did not attach the red tail light to the back of my bike, as i am unlikely to remember to remove it when i lock my bike on the street. as i live in NYC, that means that it would be stolen immediately. so instead, i attached it to the strap of the backpack that i carry when i ride at night, and there it stays. it seems to be holding on securely -- i was concerned that it would fall off, but thus far, it has stayed put. i just push the light in right before i put the backpack on, and it lights up., one more push and it starts blinking, which is the mode i prefer. then when i arrive, i turn it off. the red light is bright enough that i can see it blinking away back there, even though it is behind me. that reminds me to turn it off once i am off the bike, and presumably also makes me very visible to cars behind me.i purchased this particular bike light because of the nature of the attachment of the front light. as i say, if i leave a light attached to my bike when i lock it on the street, the light has been stolen by the time i return. i have lost several headlights that way. and if it is one of the sort that slides out of the bracket for removal, i will slide it off when i arrive, drop it in my pocket or my bag, and then forget to put it back on when i head back home later. but with this one, because of the way that it fastens, i just turn it off, remove it, and attach it to my helmet strap when i get where i am going. no way i will forget to put it back on for the return trip, as it is dangling from the strap when i go to fasten it.this headlight is quite bright enough for my needs. i ride in NYC, and frankly, i dislike those *super* bright headlights that some bicyclists use -- they can be blinding for other people. while those lights may be useful on dark country roads, i don't feel i need such a light, as manhattan is well-lit -- i just want to be visible to cars and pedestrians. this headlight is just right. it has three levels of brightness, and one "flash mode." i just use the flash mode for normal riding, and i know that it makes me quite visible.i did use the brightest steady mode one time, when i was riding in the rain, because i wanted to be able to see the potholes and such. that worked really well. and because of the nature of the attachment device, it was easy to tilt the beam downward a bit, so it really lit up the road in front of me.all in all, this seems to me to be an excellent set of lights -- adjustable, easy to use, sturdily made -- for a very good price.

HO-LY it's bright yo
UPDATE May 1 2023: Been riding with these two lights since last summer, they are STILL great! The rear and front lights are both so bright, straps are still good and tight. I would recommend this to anyone in a heartbeat!Original review from August 20 2022: Okay I literally just took it out of the packaging but let me say the main white light is BRIGHT. Let me tell you, its freakin bright man. Jeeeeez. I'm definitely going to aim it down towards the ground so that I don't freakin BLIND people coming towards me. The white light came charged, the rear red light did not so I can't comment on that yet. The straps to mount them to the bike are very simple, its a couple rubber straps, seems fine, seems plenty sturdy enough for booting around town - can't say how it'd hold up to really hard riding like downhill tracks though. Both lights are usb rechargeable and it came with two separate usb cables for that, so thats nice. White light has 5 modes, blinding, bright, less bright, aggressive flashing, and less aggressive like, dimming/flashing. Overall this does not feel or look cheap, it seems very very nice, I'm really happy with it so far. Will update if I have anything to add or if anything changes!

really bright and powerful. brighter than all the other riders i've come across on the road.
I use this for cycling.Pros:- long lasting battery, i use it on intermittent and it'll last at least 6-7 hours. I charge it every 3-4 rides and it's never died on me while cycling.- compact for the power output- the strap/attachment point feels secure and well built- all the modes you need. the brightest mode is too bright, so if i keep it constantly on, it is in the lowest power mode = longer battery life.Cons:- i wish the flashlight remembers the last mode it was on. After turning it off, I have to keep cycling though the modes to get to intermittent.- if i were to be picky: weight. Can't it be like 15grams? No, 1-7 grams?

excellent

Love this torch - so easy to charge it up ...
Love this torch - so easy to charge it up since we have micro USB chargers and leads all over the house for our various phones! Really bright, and is good for catching the attention of car drivers in flash mode. Easy to attach to and remove from the handlebars, and slim enough to not get in the way of the brakes and bell. Would happily recommend to anyone who needs to see and be seen on their bike in the dark!

Don't look directly into it from under 5-6 feet! Trust me! 😜
Review long overdue! Still an amazing value, works great, battery is great! Out of a year of occasional bike riding, it was used for 4 months as a flashlight, whenever we needed to go out at night while living in the country side. Amazing little light! Unfortunately, I lost the red one for the back, but for one summer it was great, a few nights I even forgot to turn it off and it still lasted for at least half a year. Both were caught in the rain a few times and had no problem with it. Excellent product, nice packaging (we still use the box for bracelets storage), easy to use and clip/remove from the bike! (Very useful if you live your bike in public places where someone could steal the accessories).
