Will this work with frozen butter?

It literally says in the description, "insert a stick of frozen butter." Can't even get the description right, red flag to stay away.

Does it hold 1.5" x 1.5" x 3.5" Western style butter?

It does hold two sizes and has a gauge for measuring the alternate. I tried measuring, and it would be tight for 1.5. The product description should give the two sizes it is designed for--I didn't keep my paperwork.

how easy is it to open? if the cutter breaks, like people have mentioned, would it still make a decent room temperature butter storer

I think its easy to open. I have had 2 of theae over a 10 year span, and have not had the cutter break. Mine came with extra cutter. I would not use it for room storage since is has alot of seams for air to get in. My wifw uses it with different hardness of butter and the cutter still has not broken I have purchased 4 to 5 of these for Family and non have broken and it has been aleast 4 years for those.

will it measure and slice 1 teaspoon of butter?

It has lines marked for teaspoons and tablespoons. It also has a measurement table (1/4 cup = 4 tbsp, 1/3 cup = 5 tbsp+1tsp, etc).
