This is it! This is the one!
Have tried several others. This one may break easily ( though mine has NOT) but I would happily buy a new one every year or more because it is so practical. Slice, measure, store, NO GREASY FINGERS. Just pop it back in fridge door when done. The ones I tried were the one with red screw-on end that uses a big screw to push butter out slot - that was great in theory but way too hard, actually almost impossible, to turn so was useless for me. And I tried the orange silicone one which was fine for storage but didn’t slice as easily and then, once the butter was sliced, was too hard to dispense. Plus the two pieces of the unit didn’t really fit together sturdily. This item, to me, is miraculous. I give them as gifts so every kitchen I use has at least one. Mine has two, one for butter, one for margarine sticks. I have had my original one for well over five years. If you use the rectangular shaped butter (European), I think you could still use this, you’d just have to slice the butter in half and slide the half into this unit. The measurements might not be spot on since the butter would not be an exact cube, I’m not sure, haven’t tested that. Then you’d store the other half of yournstick of butter (or buy two of these haha).

Very well made.
Outstanding butter cutter! The KitchenArt Buttermate is a game-changer for breakfast. It cuts perfectly uniform slices of butter every time - no more uneven chunks. The measuring dispenser is super convenient and keeps butter fresh. The white finish looks great on the kitchen counter. Easy to clean and very durable. This has become my go-to butter tool and I love it. Highly recommend for anyone who uses butter regularly!

Good so far
I have been using this for 2 months and it seem OK. You can measure out butter and cut it off in desired slices fairly easily. Its a little hard to clear, and I am wondering how long the cutting wire will last cause once it breaks it all goes in the garbage. It fits together but sometimes parts come loose as you grip it (sort of a snap fit thing).

Great butter cutter
It’s the best butter cutter storage device I have ever owned. It has nice clear marks to accurately cut the butter and closed back up to keep it fresh and tidy in the fridge. It uses a metal wire which glides right through the cold butter right out of the refrigerator. Great for accurate cooking or just someone looking for a nice waste free way to slice and store butter.

Works great, you just have to cut hard butter slowly. 1 year update: broke
Works great. I measured the force it takes to cut the fresh out of the refrigerator butter: about 4 or 5 pounds. In the photo you can see the wire bending under the force. So it works great, you just have to cut cold butter SLOWLY, or it will probably break the wire. If the butter sits out at room temperature for even a few minutes, it cuts much easier. The sliding butter advance mechanism works nicely. It keep the butter sealed up without any mess. 1 year update: It broke in 1 year where the butter pusher plate connects, now unusable. I used it about 2 times per week, so it worked about 100 times.

Works great, ALWAYS BREAKS
It's perfect other than it is made of plastic and ALWAYS breaks. I've purchased in 2016, 2018, and a 2 pack in 2020. Too bad the ones purchased in 2020 are already broken and it's been less than a year. It's the same spot too, every time. Right where the wire connects to the "lid". I superglued it back right now, but that rarely holds for more than a day. I will one day figure out how to fix it so I don't have to buy again and again. I love getting a perfect pat of butter for use on the griddle without having to dirty a knife! I wish the whole thing were made of metal.

I love this kitchen gadget. So much so that I bought a few more to give away as gifts. I like that it keep my butter fresh in the fridge, I don't have to touch the butter when cutting it, and I can measure how much I want and get a nice even slice. I can also cut a bit at a time to have at room temperature when needed, so I am not wasting. A friend had one, and when I saw it and tried it I purchased it immediately. It has also been a great practical gift at a decent price point.
