Should be so much better
Sorry, but this is poorly written and rushed. A book on a player of this calibre and career should be so much more. It reveals nothing about Alistair we didn't already know or captures the highs and lows of playing at top level. The 5 star reviews on here are clearly for quickly delivery and doubt many have actually read it. Shame as Alistair is not bad in the commentary box where he reveals more.

Great cricketer, rubbish book
This is a poor book, a great cricketer deserves better. It is seemingly based on a few hours of interview with a ghost writer. It is therefore largely padding with very little insight. The 5 star reviews are inexplicable.

Excellent.
A very good insight into the unrelenting nature of international cricket. The stresses, the strains, what it takes to be successful and what it takes to keep being so.

Life as a World Class sportsman is no piece of cake.
A well written book with Alastair opening his heart to all sorts of anxieties and uncertainties of being a World Class sportsman. It was disappointing at the time when he retired so early from International Cricket but after reading the book one understands why this was the case.It was pleasing to read he has such a happy home and personal life.My only niggle was how he managed to get a bursary at Bedford School although I may have missed that bit. Was it because of his cricket or his singing? His early life in Bedford was a bit short.

If you like cricket you'll like this
Purchased for a family member who had already read it, so we got to keep it instead. An interesting read, especially as he lives near us. Not the most exciting book but passed the time nicely.
