This happens too much on Amazon.
Barely started the movie & the captions went haywire; didn't match the movie scene...so tired of this. As a deaf person, captions are required & I'm not paying $3 for defective movies...

Can you spell professional? You won't find it here.
I have no idea on this film, as the 30 second time lag between the scene and the close captioning leaves me ( I am hearing disabled) clueless. I am left to wonder what the twit who is supposed to synchronize the scene/captioning actually does for a living.

Audio does not sync
The movie is awesome. My problem is the audio is not synced with the movie. I am hearing impaired. I have watched this movie enough times to know when the Friar is singing and when the rich people are being robbed! Please, please, please fix this issue!!!

Great Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman Film (Great team)
Rented the extended cut of this great motion picture after spending a day at "Le Cite" in Carcassonne, France. Yes fans, the wonderful castle in this movie is not outside Sherwood Forest in England. It is an amazingly well preserved edifice wish on a hill overlooking the city of Carcassonne in Southern France. It you haven't seen this magnificent structure, be sure not to miss it. Put it on your "Bucket List", as Morgan Freeman would say :) Started by the Romans in the first century AD and added on to by several later occupants throughout the middle ages, this double walled castle is as grand as it is authentic. The locals still talk about how wonderfulCostner and Freeman were to the locals during the filming of the movie. See the castle in France and then Rent of BUY this great movie. You will LOVE it!

Review is for the poor playback quality
The movie is great - cheesy, adventurous, and pure fun. The Amazon Prime Video Playback quality is not good. The sound keeps cutting in and out repeatedly to the point you really can't make heads or tails of the movie's dialogue. Amazon Prime Video needs a "report problem" button like N*flix has so viewers can give instant quality related feedback on the playback. *sigh* And, I was really looking forward to watching this, too.

Medieval mess
If you look at this film as you would any modern action adventure movie, it absolutely does not work. People obviously didn’t expect much back in ‘91, and in a post LOTR world this mostly comes off as some fancy American lads cosplaying in the woods. Costner has all the panache of a waiter asking if you’d like cheese with that, the action scenes are witless, artless, and boring. The editing is lazy and the camera work is flat, the plot is overstuffed and wanders literally all over the place, and it’s unmercifully, ass numbingly long. But on the plus side it does have Alan Rickman doing the most committed Dick Dastardly performance ever put to film. He saves the movie from being an absolute dumpster fire, but even his mighty talent can only get you so far.The funny thing about period films is that they tend to inadvertently emphasize when they were made rather than the period they’re trying to portray. Studios and filmmakers want to assure audiences that even though this is a period film set in ye olden days, this isn’t a movie for grandma. Raquel Welch’s Loana in 1966’s One Million Years BC was all Bombshell hair and fake eyelashes, Mel Gibson’s Fletcher Christian was all business at the front and party at the back in 1984’s The Bounty, and in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves we get Alan Rickman’s Sheriff of Nottingham Holding Out for a Hero, while Kevin Costner has a Total Eclipse of the Heart. The “I like hair metal, but I work in a bank” aesthetic was deeply uncool even in 1991, but the fact that everybody looks and acts like they fell out of a Harlequin novel is not accidental, it’s the entire point. This is Robin Hood for romance starved soccer moms. Today it seems odd that a studio would make a bloated, expensive action movie for audiences over the age of 9, but just ask yourself this: how many pumpkin-spice lattes does Starbucks sell every autumn? A whole heck of a lot, that’s how many. Well, once upon a time Hollywood were doing quite a tidy business making pumpkin-spice movies, remember this was second only to Terminator 2 at the boxoffice in 1991, no mean feat when you consider that Silence of the Lambs and Beauty and the Beast were also released that year. All of those films are considered bona fide classics today, Robin Hood? Well, it’s a bit embarrassing really.

Monster Bookshop Mess
Great film, probably the best Robin Hood film, good interpretation of a 700 year old, outlaw of Sherwood Forest who robs from the rich to give to the poor has emerged as one of the most enduring folk heroes in popular culture, even if history of a real Robin Hood is more built on folk law and Ballard's or, at the very least, a real-life figure who inspired his legend, maybe inspired by the background of William Wallace as Robin Hoode in the 19th century, writer illustrators like Howard Pyle adapted the traditional tales for children. A part of history even if somewhat of dubious facts. I have written this review from a bluray bought from Azda Video as the original order from The Monster Book Shop via Amazon was a total disaster, order presumed lost and no help from the The Monster Book Shop at all in traceing the order, seems to have been an unsecured Royal Mail delivery, rubbish.

VHS Quality
With Christmas coming and knowing that there would be next to nothing on television I brought a few Blu Rays to watch over the holidays. I picked this one out as I enjoyed Alan Rickman's performance when I first saw it at the Cinema and on DVD. So I thought I would upgrade to the Blu Ray version. The picture is just awful and I can see no improvement on the DVD copy that I already had. A waste of money really it was not even in widescreen, I have many films older than this on Blu Ray which look a lot ,lot better than this.

Solid family entertainment, terrible transfer to blu-ray
I've always had a soft spot for Prince of Thieves - its tone is all over the place, from Freeman's corny wisdom to Rickman's pantomime villain, but it's always entertaining. I liked it enough to upgrade from DVD to blu-ray. What a waste of money. This transfer is soft, wishy-washy, and not at all like the pin-sharp blu-ray picture quality I've come to expect from big-budget historical movies. A huge disappointment.

Don't listen to naysayers
I loved this film so much when I was younger and I still think it's awesome today. Morgan Freeman AND Kevin Costner? Come on, people, stop being wet blankets and revel in the awesome that is Robin Hood. This is by far one of my favourite adaptations, ever. And I am guilty (and proud) of watching the Bryan Adams music video to death - it was ridiculous and I loved it.Costner plays a great Robin and I think he portrayed the complex nature of Robin's character brilliantly. Freeman was hilarious and bad-ass, as usual. He made a great and loyal friend and accomplice and I loved the banter between the two of them. Marian was actually NOT annoying and was very likeable (which is a rarity in Robin Hood adaptations). Also, Alan Rickman was a BEYOND FANTASTIC villain. Seriously.A lot of people would describe this as a guilty pleasure, but I don't think that way at all. I genuinely think this is a brilliant film and can't understand when people get all critical, particularly over the accents. From what I've read, American accents are a lot closer to what the old British accents would've sounded like, than our own modern British accents nowadays. And I really liked the fact that nobody tried doing a British accent - it always ends up sounding ridiculous. This, thankfully, was not a problem in this film and was just another reason why I loved it.Robin Hood is fun and action-packed throughout and you really get attached to all of the characters. Plus, I loved the music in this (not just Bryan Adams, but the actual score). Please, pass on the Russell Crowe version and pick this up - it'll be the best choice you'll ever make!

Excellent and enjoyable take on the Robin Hood legend
For some the Errol Flynn version is and will continue to be the quintessential Robin Hood film yet Kevin Costner and the late Alan Rickman put on a performance that could leave some room for doubt. Yes there are dodgy accents, a delightfully over the top performance of the Sheriff of Nottingham (courtesy of Alan Rickman) and a maid Marion with a dodgy wig but on the whole the storyline is decent, plenty of action in the fight scenes and a smorgasbord of A-List actors backing them up.The basic premise is Robin returning from the crusades after escaping near death with a fellow warrior in tow (Morgan Freeman). Upon finding his father murdered and land burned at the hands of the sheriff, revenge is sworn. This Blu-Ray contains the extended cut of the film which adds around 12-13 minutes of footage to the theatrical cut. This mainly comprises of scene extensions and sub plots which were deemed to slow the pace of the film, certainly a welcome restoration as some cuts were kinda obvious on the cinema release (such as the sheriffs aides lack of speech half way through, due to tongue removal). Also on the disc are two features with the cast discussing the film, two audio commentary tracks, isolated music score and a live performance of the chart topping 'Everything I Do' from Bryan Adams. The main feature's video and audio quality is very good and a welcome upgrade from DVD, extras are in standard definition but still good non the less.
