Its ok for the price
Bought these for our 2 miniature dachshunds. One is a long hair male around 14lb, the other is a short hair female about 11-12LB. The male I use the long studs and it seems to work ok on him. Sometimes he can bark several times before it will start to beep (bark more then it should take to set it off). But he has learned what the beep means so he will usly stop barking at this point and I dont have much of an issue with his barking. Seems to work ok for him. I use the short studs for our short hair. The collar will start to beep at her from just running around. I've tried to tighten it up but if I tighten it much more it will be way to tight for her to have on. I know a bit about these types of collars so I do not believe it is anything I'm doing wrong. She knows what the beep means so she calms down fairly quick when it starts to happen. This is good for her because she is the one that wants to bark and everything, for no reason. I think she's just a lil drama queen that barks just to get everyone's attention.I do not leave these collars on my pets. I might use them once every other week during times they want to bark and everything they see. I have also tested the shock on myself (on my arm) an its enough to get your attention but not enough to hurt a dog. I would not use on a pet smaller then 10LB.If you use these collars I would start off doing it in a controlled environment that you can keep an eye (and ear) on your pets to see how well they work and how often they go off. If the collar is beeping at them and going off just for the running around and moving they will not learn to stop barking when they hear the beep.

Finally a product for small dogs that corrects excessive behavior opposed to eliminating barking!
Our male Chihuahua, Nemo (age 6) likes to jump on top of our patio furniture and bark relentlessly at neighbors and when someone comes to our door... He liked to bark at anything that moved, like a typical male Chihuahua :-). So after searching through dozens of products and their reviews, my husband and I decided on this one - namely due to the excellent reviews, the fact that this is the only no bark collar I could find that is suitable for his weight (10 lbs.), and the price was on point. The feature I love most about this collar is that it is self-regulating, in the sense that after two peeps out of him, he receives a shock. One bark and there is a loud beep sound. A second bark and there is another loud beep. A third bark and there comes the consequence - a shock. I like that I don't have to keep a controller at my fingertips (like many other collars). Considering that we have 3 young children (4, 5 and 6), we have no time to monitor every move he makes while outside. I also love that I can set the level of the charge from 1 to 7, the decrease in levels teaches him that his new approach is a good thing. Another great feature that I appreciate that this collar doesn't shock him just because he barked once.. He's a dog and dogs are innately created to bark and that I didn't want to change that with him... it was the excessive barking that needed the be corrected. We've had our collar for almost 2 months now and Nemo has made HUGE improvement with the excessive barking. We may hear one peep from him (rarely 2 peeps because he's well aware that after 2 he's gonna get shocked). I also like that he still barks when someone comes to our door, but he now backs off once we have answered the door and told him to "hush". I'm so grateful for this product. I have tried shock collars in the past, and they scared the crap out of him (literally).. This collar system allows room for the dog to correct excessive barking by giving them 2 chances before a zap sets in. Again, if your goal is to have a 24/7 silent dog, this is not for you. If you're looking to correct excessive barking, this is he PERFECT product. Nemo can now go around the house without the collar on, opposed to the collar being on him everyday when we first got it. And if there is a lot of activity going outside (where he loves to be) we just put the collar on him as a gentle reminder to quietly enjoy the outdoors. We may hear a peep every so often, but that's where it ends :-)

Great training tool, works well. Cannot be used at dinnertime!
UPDATED REVIEW: Here is how I used this product...our newly adopted pound pup had some high-pitched, heartbreaking separation induced yowling in the morning that was driving our neighbor crazy. I got the collar on a Thursday, and on Saturday we went to work.First, I tried it out. You can trigger the two warning tones and the zap by blowing into the hole on the inside of the device. I put it on the lowest possible setting. We also used the short prongs, because our dog has thin, fine hair (she is a CrestieWestiePoo, 10 lbs) I put the collar on her and put her outside, then went into the house. She got the two warning tones, then the buzz. I heard a surprised (not pained) yelp. After five minutes of quiet, I went outside and rewarded her with a game of fetch and some tummy rubs. We repeated this a few times and then she was done.We repeated the exercise the next day, but it wasn't really necessary. I think for our dog, she just needed to break that habit of separation anxiety hysteria-- once she realized that the yowling wouldn't get the desired result and would, in fact, result in the surprising and unwanted result instead, she broke the habit. She then learned that she would be at best rewarded and at worst perfectly fine if she was quiet. I can't promise this will work as well for everybody, but it worked really well for us.One caution, however: OUR DOG CANNOT WEAR IT WHILE EATING. The act of chewing/swallowing sets it off. We realized that when my husband heard the tone while she was eating, and we got the collar right off her. Still, she then needed to be cajoled into taking food- she's smart, and it didn't take long for her to associate that tone with the zap.One more thing: I was hesitant to use this, because I was afraid it would be mean but I tried it out on myself and I promise, on the lowest setting it is *not* at all painful. It feels like a mild static electricity zap. It's unpleasant and unexpected at first, but not painful. I would not use it if I thought it were cruel. I also wouldn't leave it on her all day day after day-- it shouldn't be a way of life I think, I mean: I don't mind if she barks when someone is snooping around our house or if a neighborhood cat is strutting around like he owns the place...she's not a prisoner. But as a training tool, it was highly effective.
