The good news is that there is indeed strong bitter flavor in this product. I know that for sure because both the wife and I can taste it when we spray something with it. The bad news is that our 5 month old Standard Poodle doesn't seem to mind the taste at all - maybe even likes it. I gave three stars because I'm reasonably sure that it WILL work for some dogs and the manufacturer reached out on his own initiative and offered to resolve any issues that I might have with his product. I think that, from other reviews on this and on other products, this may be worth a try for others.UPDATE 5/8/2016 - I have upgraded this product to four stars since I found that heavy spraying on my Flexi VARIO Soft Stop Belt leash did indeed give it a bad enough taste that my pup, although still taking the leash into his mouth, no longer chews on it while being walked. It may be that a VERY heavy dosing of this product is needed for pups like mine, since I did really soak the leash twice, letting it dry between soakings, with about 1/2 to 1 Oz of the product to achieve this results. But the product DID work as advertized.

Amazing!
I bought this for our 4 month old puppy. We couldn't get him to stop chewing up shoes. This spray has been great! Not only did he stop chewing the shoes we sprayed but has also started to break the habit of chewing ALL shoes. It was definitely worth the money. I would recommend this product to anyone who has a dog that chews things up. But a helpful tip; Hold your breath when praying. It tastes terrible if you get it in your mouth from breathing it in. :)

Limited Effectiveness w/Shiba Inu Puppy
This works very well -- for about 20 minutes. After that, my shiba inu doesn't seem to mind it at all. It needs to be reapplied a lot. For me, I probably won't buy again as it hasn't been nearly as effective as I had hoped in keeping my pup away from my shoes BUT the shiba inu is a strange breed and it's quite possible that this will work better for other breeds of dog....so I'm keeping my review at middle of the road.

My puppy likes to chew on the wooden corners of tables, bed frames, etc. I used this spray on the corners he's been chewing on and immediately after spraying he went up and started licking the bitter spray. Today he was back to chewing the corner of the bed frame. Not sure if it needs to be applied more often but it didn't seem to be a deterrent enough to keep him from licking it when it was freshly sprayed.

Saving Grace!
I've tried everything to keep her from chewing and licking to the point of injury, including hundreds of dollars in vet bills and 2 styles of e-collar. She despises the e-collar and plops down whenever and wherever I place the e-collar on her and will not move despite coaxing and treats - we both don't care for e-collars! Well, I've been applying the bitter spray twice daily on my Golden Retriever, Grace's, paws and front legs. The result is nothing short of amazing! Her self- mutilating behavior has been reduced by at least 75% and her paws and front legs appear to be healing! Fingers and paws crossed, but it appears the Dalvia Bitter Spray is our saving "Grace!"Will keep you posted:)

I'm glad it has helped others but it didn't work with my little chihuahua at all. She chews through and ruins her halters. With a new one I soaked it from both sides and let it dry before putting it on her. It stayed on my fingers for hours with many washings, but before the evening was through she had chewed through the sprayed one like it wasn't there.

Not worth it
I have decided to give this product a try but it didn't work for my Australian shepherd puppy at all. When I use the spray on a specific area where my puppy chew the most on, at first he would just sniff around the sprayed area and within 30 seconds he starts to chew on it again. I'm not too sure if the bitter taste is not strong enough or my puppy just doesn't mind the taste at all.

Can't really tell yet . I don't give my dog a chance to chew on anything but I can tell this is very alcohol based and very bitter when I taste it ... I've sprayed it on wood and cloth and hasn't stained
