Here's the answer...
Some reviewers say it doesn't cut at all. Others say it's their favorite knife - like, for years. Why?This weird looking serrated blade -- rounded outward, not scalloped like a bread knife -- cuts only when you push it forward through the food. I was mystified why I could draw a brand new edge right across my skin and it did nothing. If I had pushed rather than pulled it across my skin, well that would be quite a different experience. (No, I don't usually test knives that way....)Just remember it is a "push" knife, quite common among Japanese designs. If you're accustomed to drawing a knife toward you (pulling) when cutting, this may not be the knife for you. It's not for chopping or slicing toward you, it's for pushing a cut through the food only. That's the answer.

Great Product, Great Price
Excellent! I’ve owned my own kitchen knives for almost 50 years, and three brands stand out as winners above all others for durability, minimal maintenance/sharpening, and excellence overall. Ginsu is one of those three!

No blade protector, slick handle
These knives are scary sharp, they should come with a protective sleeve. The smooth plastic handles are not as large or contoured as I'd like, kind of slippery. Inexpensive and serrated, so they don't require sharpening just send them to recycle. My last one gave me about two years of use on poly cutting boards for home use, but that was an older one that had different serrations (I think) and handle, definitely Ginsu though, I had a set. Too bad you can't return it.

Good
Excellent all purpose knife I wish it had more aggressive serration for bread but works well as a utility knife around the kitchen

It's a self sharpeng knife
I don't know why everyone stopped making self-sharpening knives. Dull knives are dangerous. It stays sharp. It's also wide - many knives are not wide enough. This cuts everything. It also does not have the small contours that easily get dirty. It also does not smell like a Chinese chemical factory.

Suitable for all
An excellent kitchen essential for all levels of culinary experience. It's affordable, effective, stays sharp (PRO TIP: hand wash only). Comfortable, fits well in my hands, and looks exactly like the photographs. Color compliments all kitchen setups.
