A country music troubadour
A well done collection of some of Bobby Bare's best known material. Bare has done an enormous amount of albums over the years and I have some of them but this Cd fills in some of the missing parts of his career for me. If you are a fan who does not have an extensive collection of Bares's albums this Cd is fantastic.

wonderful collection of music covering a wide range of styles. bobby bare has never had a definitive, career-defining multi-lable overview such as this before. best place to start to discover one of the most underrated country music artists of all time. a typical example of a high quality raven records release. superb audio, highly recommended.

The Pride Of The Opry
Raven Records Does It Again By Giving Us The Best Of The Best. The Collection Actually Starts In 1958 Not 1960. Bobby Hit The Charts With All American Boy Which Was Credited To His Friend Bill Parsons A Mistake By The Record Label. Bobby Was Drafted When This Hit The Charts And Was Unable To Make Apperances So Ironically Bill Parsons Lip Sync' d The Song On American Bandstand. This Was Rectified Years Later And Bobby Finally Got The Deserved Credit. I LOVE The Part Where He Has Elvis Down Pat "Take This Rifle Kid Gimme That Guitar. I Listen To Bobby On The Opry When He Appears And He Still Has It. This Collection Sounds Superb. The Remastering Is FANTASTIC. I Am Thankful That I Have It. Love The Winner In The Tradition Of Johnny Cash's A Boy Named Sue. Marie laveau My Favorite Bobby Will Make You Feel That You Are In The Bayou. What A Treasure.

A great compilation despite a notable omission
This is a multi-label collection spanning Bobby's career from 1958 to 1983. As such, credit for all inclusions and blame for all omissions goes to whoever compiled this set. He or she did not just pick the obvious tracks based on chart positions but included a good spread of minor hits and album tracks. The game of triangles" (with Liz Anderson and Norma Jean) is the only top ten hit that is omitted - a surprise, but you'll find it on Heaven Help the Working Girl (Norma Jean) That aside, there is plenty to like about this set. Among the less obvious tracks are Redneck hippie romance (a minor hit), The gambler (recorded before Kenny Rogers recorded his version), No memories hangin' round (a top 20 duet with Rosanne Cash, recently revived by Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris on The Traveling Kind ) and Song of the south (later covered by Alabama, whose version became a #1 country hit.Any Bobby Bare fans or fans of sixties and seventies country music generally should seriously consider buying this one.
