nice cooling bandana
this arrived on time and is of great quality. Make sure to measure before purchase as unlike other cooling bandannas this one has a gel inside that expands and gets somewhat heavy. It is great as it stays cold much longer however on a small dog like our French bull dog it turns around on her and hangs down due to heaviness. however, for larger dogs i think it would be a wonderful cooling bandanna. it is made of high quality materials, great tight stitching and the gel lasts long. I would definitely recommend

Great product!
I run & own a pet sitting and walking business and use these all the time during the summer to help keep my clients dogs cool while we are out walking. I’ve tried a number of cooling bandanna brands, but have been happiest with this one as it holds its “cool” longest and doesn’t have any of the odd “surface slime” that some oth the others did. Only downside is the I’ve found to these is the bulk/weight they can hold if you let them get too waterlogged, but if you soak them just the right amount and place them in the freezer they work great! Very durable & the Velcro seams to hold better than some others out there. Sizing runs small so I typically end up using the larger size for most of my walking dogs. I would probably only recommend for shorthair dogs, though same holds true for about any cooling bandanna out there in the market. Overall I’m very pleased with this product & will be reordering whenever this set wears out!

Doesn't fit as advertised
Wow. I'm really disappointed. I received this "bandana" and tried it on my dog before throwing away the materials that came with it. It barely fit but since there was a good inch and a half of velcro holding it I decided that it would be ok. I soaked in in water for half an hour then put it in the refrigerator. The next morning, taking it out to put on my dog, I noticed that it was quite heavy. I was concerned the weight would put stress on her neck but decided to try it anyway. Well I never got a chance - having expanded from the water, the bandana no longer fit. My dog's neck is a collar size 17". This bandana was advertised for necks up to 19". I would have had to strangle her to put it on, no way would it have fit a 19" dog!I'm contacting the seller and will update later.Update: Amazon was the seller and of course, they sent me an immediate return slip. But I can't get the bandana to dry out and I can't find a way of contacting Amazon to tell them my problem...Update July 11, 2011 - I decided to keep it. I crafted a velcro extension and tried it on a couple walks. One - I definitely feel it is too heavy for comfort (my dog is 50 pounds, so no lightweight). Two - she carries her head down so that she can smell things on her walk. As a result, the bandana doesn't touch her neck most of the time. To me, that makes the product worthless. I decided to purchase a KoolCollar and I LOVE IT - it really makes a difference. You can fill it with ice or just use the included ice pack, either works fine.

too thick
Tried to give it a chance despite reviews of it being "heavy". It's just too thick. It makes it too heavy, as others mentioned, but it also holds a TON of water ... great right? Nope, because the outside material dries out while the absorbing beads are holding tight to all the water instead of letting it evaporate and cool. I tried to squeeze a little bit of the water out to wet the fabric, but what came out felt like ooze. Tried it in the freezer. It stays frozen for a VERY long time, but again, the fabric dried out, and it was so stiff that it just wasn't making good contact with the dog's body.Long story short: not the worst product I've tried for this so far, but still wasn't satisfied with it.UPDATE: It doesn't dry out when it's not being used, so it got moldy. Make sure you keep it in the fridge or freezer when not in use.

Not as good as I hoped
I have a greyhound, and with their next-to-zero body fat, they get hot as readily as they get cold. For my guy, that means anytime it's over 64 degrees and the sun is shining. So I ordered the bandana with high hopes. It does stay wet, but I was disappointed on a few scores. 1) As others have noted, the bandana swells up hugely. Like, you wouldn't believe how huge. While that didn't cause any problems with the fit, it did mean that it absorbed so much water it got really, really heavy. My dog kind of acted like I was punishing him when I hung this dead weight around his neck. 2) It takes forever to dry out, and there's no way to speed up the process. 3) I should have anticipated a typical greyhound problem -- their heads are thinner than their necks. This means they can slip out of collars easily, and that the bandana wanted to fall off whenever he had his head down. Which was most of the time, since the bandana weighed so much. So I think this is going to be more of a lying around the house on a hot day accessory, and for walks we'll just have to keep driving to the shadiest spots we can find. Maybe for a Rottie or a pit bull my issues wouldn't be a problem.

Great for long runs
I have the most athletic dog on the planet (heeler). She has run up to 24 miles in the mountains with me as I train for marathons. But without this collar, I couldn't do this on a warm day at lower elevations. Even 10 miles in summer heat can cause her to slow down a bit. But this collar allows me to take her on long runs in the morning with her pulling for more the whole way. It also allows us to take shorter runs in mid day (85 - 90 deg).I found it helps to soak about 25 minutes or so to allow the crystals inside to completely expand. Then place the collar around your dogs neck for sizing. Remove and reconnect the velcro to the same size as your dogs neck, then freeze in the same round shape. That way, when you take it out of the freezer it fits right away without having to thaw it to mold to your dogs neck. This medium was just barely big enough for my heeler. A chow or larger necked dog would definitely need a larger size. Also, at this price I bought two just in case I lose one. Wish I'd bought 4...

Three Stars
Good product but a bit heavy when fully soaked. Just let it only partially soak.
