It also tells you the marking scheme for the exam and also which scales and arpeggios are required.My first reflection is that the pieces have a lot of things on them beyond just the notes and look quite scary to a grade 1 person. The three pieces for section B in particular have a lot going on although the swing does sound lovely when played properly. Glad to see a Mozart piece even if it is one he wrote when he was seven years old!I’m looking forward to getting my head around these pieces in time.

I've been teaching the instrument for a quarter of a century and this is one of the dullest selections to date. I have to say that, for the past two or three releases, I've preferred the Trinity pieces for many of the grades (as a former student of the RCM I've generally been loyal to the ABRSM). The pupils need to be inspired and not one pupil has looked enthralled by this selection. Also, the Schumann is more like a Grade 2 piece. Not sure how that found it's way in here.
