Love my brown hair
So my natural hair color is a dark brown but previous to using this henna dye my hair was dyed light blonde. This henna dye did a great job of darkening my hair.I did not leave it in for the full 4 hrs, only about 1 hour and 10 minutes. After rinsing it out I did not use conditioner. Well as I blow dried a small section of my hair, excited to see how the color turned out, I realized that it had a horrible green tint, as others have noted. Also felt very junky like it still had product in it. So I hopped back in the shower and used conditioner. That did the trick. Well, mostly. The junky feeling was gone and the green was reduced but still a slight green tint remained. And the brown shade was a bit darker than I wanted.4 days later I washed my hair. Green tint is now gone and my hair is now a beautiful medium brown with a hint of gold. I love it. So yes it will probably turn your hair greenish at first but it goes away with the first washing.

Update: Gave me Scalp Infection
I had a coworker tell me about the benefits of dyeing my hair with henna, and I finally gave in. It takes a bit longer than traditional dyes but is sooo worth it. There are no harsh chemicals, and your hair doesn’t look all one color like box dyes. It seems to have natural highlights. I love it and everyone else loves it on me, I am never going back to frying my hair with chemicals!Update: I've bought this twice since my first review. The second time I bought this product my scalp started to itch and tingle and then my lymph nodes started to swell up leaving me with a pretty costly trip to urgent care where they prescribed me antibiotics. I figured it was just a coincidence, like maybe I scratched my head and got a scalp infection from something under my nails. I loved this hair dye so much I decided to give it another shot. Just one day after dyeing my lymph nodes were swollen again and my scalp was super itchy. It's been a few days now and it seems I'm gonna have to go back to urgent care. I really love this stuff, I'm so disappointed.

Great Product But Smells Like You Took a Mud Bath With Seaweed
This is the second time I have purchased this product although last time I bought a darker color. It is a great product and seems to last pretty well. I use it to cover some bleached ends of my hair and even out the overall color. It definitely lightens and reveals the blonde over time but it is completely fine for the first 8 weeks. It is very easy to use, I recommend using a glass bowl and some kind of silicone whisk to get out all the clumps. I added the full amount of water and it was a great consistency. I have a shoulder length bob and it was more than enough henna. I put a VERY generous covering and still had some left over. I think you would be fine with one box up until mid-back length hair. It is very messy so I have found that it is best to start at the crown and twist the hair around itself moving out to the edges. The instructions are very specific but I don't think it is actually as hard a product to use as the instructions make it seem.My one complaint is that it smells absolutely horrible. But it is plants so I don't know what you would expect. For the first three-ish washes you smell like literal seaweed until it dries. I put some lavender oil in my hair to cover it up at first but it only helps a little. Now it has been about 3-4 weeks and it smells fine and the color is still great (I use castile soap and ACV to wash my hair as well, which is not color safe).

Pretty medium-dark chocolate brown.
Wasn’t as hard as I was expecting but you do need time!!!I am a cosmetologist and have done quite a bit of hair but I have thin, dry, brittle hair and have been trying to give it a break but I don’t like my natural ashy level 6 hair and don’t plan to dye my hair any color but brown for a while. My hair was a level 7 copper brown with 1/2” grow out. I was afraid of a demarcation line and to much color being deposited in my over processed ends. It gave a solid color root to ends- I’m very pleased with that part! I also assumed this would hardly change my hair. My guess was I would end up with a level 6 red brown. I ended up with a level 5 and it’s a really pretty chocolate brown. A little darker then I was hoping for this go around but I do love this color.I used boiling water, let it sit for 10 min, put it on, and left it on for 4 hours with a towel over the plastic “shower cap.”It does not smell great. When I was pouring the boiling water in it smelled like old burned cigarettes that were made of alfalfa. The next few showers it smelled more like straight alfalfa powder (think high quality green protein shake powder).I’ve only had it in for a week but color hasn’t faded.I haven't notice the “healthy feeling” of the hair that everyone talks about but a lot of things (like coconut oil) make my hair feel worse not better so it’s probably just me. Hoping in the long run it will let my hair grow out and heal.My hair is down between my shoulder blades but only a dime sized pony tail. I used half the bag and it was just enough. If you have a lot of hair you should probably get 2 boxes.

More black than brown!
Even though I followed the instructions to a T - and am no self-hair dye and henna novice - it turned my hair pitch black instead of a medium brown shade. It was more blue-black than brown. If you are going for a natural black color, this would be great, however, those who desire anything within the brown range, I would choose a much lighter shade.
