A very good purchase
My 5-year-old chose this doll over many others and her initial fascination with it has stuck for over 7 months now. Her 2-year-old sister is similarly obsessed with it and they do spend a fair amount of time negotiating (well, fighting, really) over it - to the point I have considered buying a second one. The colors of this doll are lovely and it has really held up despite many hours of not the gentlest play. They/we have done lots with her hair - twisting it, braiding it, putting it up in a pony tail(s) and the hair still looks all right (unlike the hair of the Rapunzel doll they have which got so matted that we had to give her a drastic haircut). The Merida doll is beautiful, she plays well with others (she's often the "mommy" of our Maileg mice), and even shares her clothes with other dolls her size. This was a very good purchase!
