Q: How large is the lanyard hole?

Approximately the diameter of the end of a traditional shoe lace. (best way I can describe it.)

Q: Mine got a air bubble in it, any ideas how to get it out? Was 10 miles into a national forest when I pulled it out and noticed it...

If the air bubble is small enough that it doesn't touch the needle then your reading is accurate. But my experience has been that over time you will get more air bubbles, they might combine into larger bubbles and then your compass is quite inaccurate. No way I know of to get rid of bubble...buy another compass.
