the plastic rope doesn't fall with gravity well. you have to FORCE the rope to circle you, using arm muscles. My 5 year old got frustrated, so I got her an actual rope for jumping rope and she's happy now. NOT an appropriate jump rope for a child.

I've just started on my weight loss journey and because of this was looking for somewhere to start. I loved the thought of this because I used to love to jump rope as a kid. This comes with two ways to uses it, a rope or ropeless. I tried with the rope first. Setting the weight and timer is easy on this, just the press of a button. The weight only goes up to 110 kg or 250 pounds. Now as far as use with or without the rope it's pretty self explanatory, swing and jump. For me the wirless form was easier because you can't miss the rope when jumping. It comes with an extra battery for when the one in it does. Works great and it does stop the counter if youre jumping with the rope and miss it or just need a break. I received this item at a discounted price for my honest opinion.
