Practice Makes Perfect Italian Pronouns And Prepositions, Second Edition (Practice Makes Perfect Series)

This book helped me pass a quiz and an exam on direct and indirect pronouns. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to learn Italian. The only problem is that some of the answers in the answer key are not correct so you may need to double check answers online or in another book to make sure that your answers are correct.

I enjoy this series of workbooks overall, however this one in particular is one of my favorites because it tackles a difficult and confusing (in my opinion) topic. It is not a beginner's book, you should already have some decent vocab and understanding of Italian for this, but it does a great job of explaining all those tiny little words that make sentences make sense. There are plenty of exercises, and it introduces enough new words to me where I'm learning, but not so many that I can't complete the exercises. It's great to learn, and as a reference. I've been going over it for weeks now, focusing on different chapters working on weak areas. Like the verb conjugation book of the same series, I feel my grasp of the language took a huge step forward after working through this book.

While the main body of print is of normal size and and can be changed by the reader, the examples and even the exercises, which are the main reason for buying the book. are in tiny, tiny print, the size of which can't be increased. This makes the book almost worthless, if you want to practice--which is why people buy it in the first place. Secondly, there is no answer key to correct any errors. A self-help book, which the introduction says this is, should contain this aid to learning. I was very disappointed.

I have been studying Italian for several weeks and this workbook has been very helpful in clarifying correct pronoun usage. I find it to have just the right level of explanation with well designed exercises. The biggest problem is that there are a few inaccuracies, mostly in the answer key. These errors could cause a complete novice a lot of confusion, although they are fairly obvious (meaning they cause just a little initial confusion) if you have grasped the lesson that the exercises are attached to. As stated by a previous reviewer, you will need a dictionary to get through some of the exercises. You will also need a basic understanding of verb forms.

This workbook finally allows me to practice those frustating pronouns and prepositions in an organized fashion. Though drilling is not usually the best way to learn a language, this book helps alot with remembering the idiosyncrasies (for English speakers) of the Italian pronomi and preposizioni. I am also picking up new vocabulary along the way.

Italian prepositions and pronouns are a very important of the language and they do require a separate exercise book. This is a particularly good one. The exercises are excellent and I enjoy referring to the book constantly.

I am currently taking an Italian class. I am of Italian descent and am taking classes to learn the proper way to speak and write the language. I have found this book and Verb drill book very useful.

Love the Practice Makes Perfect range of language books. I have them in 3 languages now and use them both for my learning and also as a teaching aid. Clear and thorough, explained simply with well constructed exercises. A true all rounder for foreign language grammar learning.
