Our gas fireplace was non functional(heatilator) and the technician quoted a minimum of 900 dollars to repair it. We decided to order the parts on Amazon and the gas fireplace is fully functional now. We saved a solid $600 when we repaired by ourselves. We did end up purchasing a few more parts to help with the repair

The 30+ year old gas fireplace in the house we just bought wasn't lighting. After an expensive service call and the replacement of a couple of other parts, we were told we needed a new valve. Not wanting to pay an additional $500, my husband found this part on Amazon and replaced it himself for half the cost. If you're going to do this, also get an inexpensive gas sniffer, on Amazon of course, and save yourself a lot of money.
