I have had this for a while now and it was a learning curve for using this on my skin. I did a test on my wrist to see if I would react (I have very reactive skin) and had no reaction. First few times trying it I used the soap by itself with a washcloth, a sponge, a poof, and a net cloth. It was very strong on my skin so I put it away for a while. I now am trying it mixed together with two different bars (as I've seen done on YouTube) and it seems less harsh. The soap itself is high quality and has great texture. I've only encountered one tiny piece of what I think is palm kernal shell (about the size of a large grain of rice). Smell is strong, but not bad. When I bought it several years ago it was $14.99 ... It seems inflation has bumped it up to $24.99 now, which is relatively expensive.

I wash in the shower with this soap on a daily basis. This soap works well and will eliminate funguses that may occur in the groin area as well as on your toes. Since using the soap I've never experienced a jock itch situation or athlete's foot. This soap is also good for hyperpigmentation. For those of us that unfortunately may sleep with our hands directly on our face this may cause hyperpigmentation. What I have discovered is that after changing your bed position making certain that your face is not lying directly on your hands this soap has the ability to lighten your face in those difficult areas. After switching my bedsheets from polyester to 100% cotton along with using African black soap the results were staggering. When I first started using the soap it did burn. However, over the course of time, my skin got used to it and I was able to use the product directly on my scan in all areas. Now, I shower with it every day. It doesn't smell bad at all. The only time that I might use a different product for men that is scented is when I'm going to wear a necktie. Other than that African soap is used on a daily basis morning and at night before bedtime. This product is phenomenal. Don't be afraid to use it on a daily basis. I have experienced no difficulties. As you become used to the soap litigant on your face for one or two minutes causes no difficulties whatsoever. There was a time in which I did use facial scrubs to clear my face. I purchased this soap because of the cleansing properties. The soap comes with a letter of warning to test it out on your skin before you decide to commit. I read the warnings, tested out the soap on a patch of my skin and I had no reaction. I followed the instructions for use. I loved the fact that it completely cleaned my skin! I used shea butter lotion (Palmers) after every wash (which I only used 3 days a week). 3 weeks ago, I woke up to my thigh itching something awful. I scratched like crazy and developed bumps. I put some Cortisone on it and it went away. Something told me to back off the soap for a bit. I just had a feeling. A week later, I tried the soap again. Nothing happened, until a few days later when I noticed my arms where itching like crazy! It spread to my hands then my legs, then my feet. I was itching all over. I did some research and this soap will dry out your skin to the point where you can, if you are sensitive enough, develop contact dermatitis. I didn't think it would effect me because I had no reaction when I tested it on my skin. I really hoped it wasn't the soap because it is really good at ridding your skin of impurities and dirt. But in the end, the only thing that could've cause me to break out in a rash all over is this soap. I'm still itching all over, especially my hands (I used wash gloves). I'll have to go to a dermatologist soon to get some relief from the itching.

This soap doesn’t have the magical properties everyone seems to think it does. Before you buy it, you need to understand that its effect on acne largely depends on the source of it. Mine is mostly hormonal and this is basically useless for it, along with most of everything I’ve tried. I knew going in that it would be. But I bought it mainly for its claims that it will clear up acne scars over a period of time. My face isn’t super oily, but it isn’t naturally dry either. This soap did a number on me. My cheeks feel like sandpaper after every use. My face burns and is irritated along with pimples that are going strong. This soap strips my face of ALL oils and I try to avoid using cleansers/soaps that do this because I’ve tried several moisturizers that surprise surprise, break my skin out. So, it’s sort of a lose-lose situation for me. I finally threw in the towel and officially gave up on this soap today. I’d love to know if it actually lightens acne dark spots over time, but I just cannot stand to use it any longer. I have also come to two conclusions, one painful to accept. One, this soap would be awesome for someone with a chronically oily face. My mom, for instance. I cut her a block of it and she loves it. Felt her face and it’s smooth as a baby’s bottom. Two, there are NO OTC products that will cure or even treat hormonal acne and I refuse to take crap that will give me weird side effects. Junk like this soap, clean and clear, neutrogina, clearasil, and blah blah blah are only effective for people whose acne is caused by oily skin. Their pores are clogged and all those gimmick creams and cleansers do is fool them into practicing a good skin care regimen (which is all they needed in the first place). I, on the other hand, can scrub my face night and day until it’s raw, and I will still get acne. So, I officially give up. The only thing I’ll admit about this soap is, again, it is VERY effective at removing dirt and oils. If you have dry skin, avoid it like the plague.
