I'm really impressed with this ceramic rod. I was worried it might be a little fragile based on reviews, but I've used it 3-4 times per week for the last 6 months without issue. It is fantastic for keeping kitchen knives razor sharp, and I use it on both stainless steel and Japanese carbon steel knives. My typical routine is 5-10 strokes per side prior to prepping for dinner, and because it is slightly less abrasive than a steel rod I usually skip leather stropping. I even use it to touch up my folding knives as well, works really great on softer stainless steels like what's used for Victorinox SAKs. This is probably one of the best purchases I've made this year on Amazon, the quality and price are top notch.

By having the different sizes makes it easier to use the right size for the small bag of Chilli Fritos to the party size chips.

This item is definitely worth it, it keeps the edges of my Knives very sharp. I particularly liked this ceramic honing tool because it is suitable for Japanese hardened steel knives. This honing rod is very easy to use. And it looks nice with its white surface. It’s really easy to use and I can definitely tell the difference in the kitchen

It is claimed to be an 11 inch rod, but has actually only 10 inches of ceramic rod that is usable. The length of the rod from the hand guard to the tip is 10 3/4 inch but there is a 3/4 inch plastic (non-removable) tip protector -- a nice feature, by the way -- that reduces the effective honing length. ...not a show stopper, but a bit of a disappointment.The over all build quality is good and it does a good job so I would still recommend it to others.

I don't have space or the time to keep and become an expert with wet stones, but I do want to keep my knives sharp.The steels that came with my knives only ruined them.I recently bought a new Victorinox chef knife. After using it for a while it lost its pristine sharpness and I didn't want to ruin it with a knife steel.I bought this ceramic rod and I'm happy to report that my knife is sharp as new. I've even been able to restore another knife that wasn't too messed up.After doing some research I think I'm going to also purchase a strop with some fine compound to get that next level sharpness.

I’m a pretty decent freehand sharpener, I sometimes use guided systems too. This ceramic rod is my last step (sometimes I’ll leather strop too if I’m looking for mirror finish, or even more insane sharpness). Once I’ve hit the apex on a diamond or natural stone depending on the steel, this rod refines and hones edges to the point of absurdity. Works just fine on 20cv, m390, and other ridiculous steels. This is the best edge maintenance and factory edge improving tool I’ve ever owned as well, assuming I like the factory edge geometry to begin with, this is often the only tool many of my knives ever see, and they’re all scary sharp, from soft high carbon to hard super steel, neck knives to kitchen knives and machetes. If I could only have one sharpening tool, this would be it, it removes steel, not just hones it, given enough time you could sharpen any tool with just this rod. Once you get familiar with the “skating” feeling of the edge over the rod, it’s just a matter of time until you have a scary edge. I’ve also had this for years now, and it works as well as the day it was bought. If you couldn’t tell, I recommend this item.

Currently using a cheap grocery store chef knife but this helps keep it sharp between uses. Everyone should own a tool like this. As far as bang for buck, this tool is worth it. It’s surprising how many friends of mine don’t own or know how to use a honing rod. I personally prefer the ceramic to steel honing rod.

Très bon produit qui vaux la peine si vous avez des lames de carbone dures comme avec les couteaux japonais. J'avais juste un petit problème d'assemblage du bout en caoutchouc blanc qui dépassait de la tige de céramique. Mon couteau à 63 HRC à réglé le problème lors de mes séances d'affutage sur les parties dépassantes de la tige de céramique.

Da ich den Schleifstab jetzt schon länger in Verwendung habe und damit regelmäßig meine Küchenmesser und meine Outdoormesser schleife, kann ich sagen, dass das Produkt wirklich überzeugt.Bei Küchenmesser die scharf sind kann man so wirklich den Schliff halten oder ihn verbessern bzw optimieren, je nach belieben. Es reichen oft nur 2-3 Züge pro Seite und der Schliff ist perfekt. Für stumpfe Messer ist die Körnung zu fein und würde unverhältnismäßig lange dauern.Da der Stab angenehm groß ist, lassen sich auch größere Outdoormesser wie zb. SOG Seal Team, oder Cold Steel Trail Master, oder Messer mit einer Hohlklinge wie Kukris oder ein Khopesh z.B. problemlos schleifen.Der Griff ist angenehm, rutschfest und der Fingerschutz ist ausreichend groß gestaltet.Kann trocken oder feucht angewendet werden und ist mit einem Schwamm leicht zu reinigen.Eine Art Scheide wäre zum Schutz oder zur Lagerung um die Lebensdauer zu erhöhen sicher von Vorteil, aber man kann sich da mit einem Kartonrohr oder einem passenden PVC-Rohr gut selber helfen.Auf Jeden fall sollte das ein Standard in der Küche sein.

I sharpen my knives on a stone. Using this (previously used a metal steel) to maintain them it is easy to keep the edges beautifully sharp and will certainly mean longer between full sharpening.
