Tech, Drugs and Truth
Did you grew up loving books who took you on a journey depicting real life scenarios such as working on wall street, or attending Harvard? Then the Show is right up your alley. The Show The Show brought me on a journey navigating through the world of tech in todays day and age. Working at a large tech firm is the goal of many. The writing is engaging and emotional. I throughly enjoyed the ups and downs of each character and more importantly, it made me smile and get sad throughout the book. Knowing that the author comes from the tech world makes the story believable and real. The show however is more than just fictional reading or an insight into the tech world. It sparks inspiration about pursuing your dreams. It takes a bold individual to walk away from something society deems to be perfect. If it isn’t perfect to you, then you are not doing what you love. Quit. Fail. Try new things until you find what you love to do and you will be successful. After reading the show I personally took a look around and changed things around. The show is very inspiring and a great read.

quick read
Was really excited about this book, but should have realized I had my hopes high since I saw it on businessinsider. The book gives a decent glimpse into the tech sales culture, but that is about it. The book leaves you with so many unanswered questions. You finally are into the story than you realize that there are only ten pages left. What happens to the girl that he was chasing? He builds up the interest so well and leaves you with no outcome. What happens to Chris's dad? Does Daniel end up staying at the show? What about Hank and Alex? He does a really good job in painting a vivid picture of his colleagues that you want to know what happened to them, but you don't find out.The book does reflect on a critical part of chasing your dreams and not falling into what society portrays as right. I do wish there was more to the story, but I am excited to read Filip Syta's work in the future.

Short and no plot
I came into this expecting quite a bit. The story is very short. I read it in like two days. Very disappointing as there were some really interesting characters. In the end they do almost nothing. There really is no plot - just the characters coming to the conclusion that they hate their lives.

A poignant portrait of the foibles and intricacies of the corporate world
If you have been wondering what makes certain novels so irresistible, Filip Syta‘s The Show will serve you the answer on a silver platter. This book will colonize your imagination so entirely that you will find it hard to tear away from the pages. Yes, it is a debut work but instantly putting the author‘s talent to create profoundly gripping narrative in the spotlight, describing the setting and surroundings in such color and detail that the reader will feel part of this vibrant world immediately. Though one might wish for a bit more character development here and there, the author knows brilliantly how to use imagery to add such depth to the novel that putting down the book might feel like parting with a good friend. The thematic choice of placing the story in the tech world and sketching the struggle of a young man that will have to choose between getting inebriated by success or following his heart, does not only create strong momentum but strikes a chord of emotions that will make you want to tap into the dreams buried within yourself.

Not worth the time
I didn't enjoy this book at all. The plot didn't really excite me nor did it inspire any other feelings, if I'm being completely honest. The thought process of the character had no personality nor the ability to emote. It seems like an extremely sexist depiction of what working in Silicon Valley is like. It seems like a poor attempt to discredit what working at some of the bigger companies in "the valley" is like. I find it hard to believe that this is truly what it's like when some of those companies have come up with some of the most creative and innovative things in the 21rst century.Overall, not worth reading and wish I could get a refund.

A great and much recommended read
The story is great and the author makes a really good job at delivering it. Vic, the main character, starts of in a situation of hybris and "having it all", experiencing the parties, sex and drugs of the young tech world elite. But through the temptations he slowly gets to know the shallowness, the swindle and also the dangers of being part of the company and people he once admired. The author's background in the tech world and his way of writing offers a lot of credibility to the story. The book also presents us with an upcoming literary talent. My favorite moment reading the book was a couple of pages where Vic sits on a bench in the Golden Gate Park observing both the people and nature around him - perfectly written with a great sense of details and choice of words by the author.

Reminded me of "the Wolf on Wall Street"
Depicts the other side of "tech" that you do not hear much about. The story is a quick, entertaining read with an important message. Yes, many of these companies have high salaries and great benefits but there is a flip side to the environment. In fact, many of these companies have high attrition rates as well. I burned out on all the drinking, drugs, sex, and ubiquitous F-word, and it reminded me a bit of the movie (based on the book) "The Wolf of Wall Street", although a little tamer. Nevertheless it is a good entertaining read.

A Google eye-opener
I once were one of the guys dreaming about a job at Google, pushing my grades to meet their requirements and to get a shot on the imaginary work place. This book, however, is an honest review of what's really going on there and an eye-opener from all the flattering and popular titles such as; Are you smart enough to work at Google; Work Rules!, etcI also appreciate the writing style, which makes it a really easy read. I would recommend the book for yourself or as a gift for anyone in their beginning of their career or anyone that might consider working in the tech-industry.And I look forward to the coming reads from the author.
