Love My Red Shiny Hair
I have been graying since my 20's and have been using chemical color for almost 30 years. I recently started getting bumps on my scalp and realized that I may have developed an allergy to the dye. I am about 80-90% gray or white rather. I had already switched over my soaps and shampoos to natural ingredients without sls and worried about the chemicals I have been putting on my scalp. I love red for my hair, but my hairstylist friends always said to steer clear of henna. I am so glad I finally tried Light Mountain Henna Color The Gray in red. I took the advice of the instructions and treated my hair with the regular natural first that has no color just to condition my hair before using the red. If you do not like vivid red, use a light brown to start. I love the rich red and the shine I got with this henna! It is so much prettier than any of the reds I have tried that are chemically based. Since I had been coloring my own hair for years, I did not find it that messy and did not think it stained any worse than other dyes I had used. Yes it takes longer and there is a bit of a learning curve, but I am happy with the results. It seems to have repaired some of the damage I had done by coloring, then bleaching when I didn't get the red I wanted. It is much more difficult or almost impossible to get out of the hair so if in doubt, start slow and build the color over time. If you like to change your color often, this is not for you. If you have been searching for a great red and want to be free of chemicals, this is a good choice. The Orange at the roots mellows after a few days, and don't forget the strand and allergy patch test. Some people are allergic to henna, not the fault of the product, just differences in people. I am allergic to corn and apples, it's just the way it is. For me this has been a great move and I love my red hair.

Great...but..
I love this product. The downside is that it takes all afternoon to use, and it's messy as heck. My whole bathroom winds up with this mud on it, and that 'mud' stains almost instantly. To be more descriptive, you have to open packet 1, mix it with filtered hot water, and then let it sit for 1-3 hours in a non metal bowl. While that's sitting, you do the same with packet 2. You put the step 1 in your hair. (for me, my hair is past elbow length and thick and frizzy) Which means you are covering every strand of your hair with goopy chunky mud. You cover your head, and you wait. How long you wait depends on your strand test. (yes you have to do all of this for the strand test too) For me it was about 45 minutes. Then you rinse your hair, which is a god awful mess, as the mud has now half dried and comes off in chunks and bits, and takes a good 20 minutes to scrub off your scalp and hair with only water. Then you repeat the process with step 2, mud, chunks, smearing, trying to get every bit covered. However, there's only ONE pair of gloves included in the kit, so consider this warning, go get yourself some disposable plastic gloves ahead of time. Then you cover your head again, and this time you use off and on again heat from a blow dryer. For me it was another 45 minutes or so of this. Then you get to go through the rinsing again. Only this time you can use handfuls of conditioner to help get it out which does make it a tad bit easier. But wait, there's more!Then.. you get to try and scrub off where it stained your skin, because no matter how much cream you use around your hairline, you'll wind up with it in your ears. Luckily this orange color comes off your skin in a few days. Then you'll realize your bathtub is now stained orange, and will be for days if not weeks. To get rid of that stain you'll have to fill your tub and add bleach and let it sit for a few hours, and then scrub. However your hair will smell awesome, and be the most beautiful shade of auburn you could ever hope for, and soft as silk, and very natural looking.Next time, I'll see if I have any friends that want to do this too, I think two people doing it would make the process MUCH easier and cleaner. If you're doing it by yourself, I suggest making an afternoon of it, get a few movies, some good snacks and drinks and just relax. (Do Not try to do your nails, as this stuff stains them too)So, this is an amazing product, but you have to weigh the sheer amount of work that goes into it against the results. And knowing you have to redo it in 6-8 weeks. For me, I do keep doing it, I just wish it were easier.I hope this helps any first time users!

Saves me money!
I used to spend at least $75 at a salon to get my hair colored once a month. I decided to try this product but didn't really think it would work because I had heard henna doesn't cover gray hair. To my surprise it came out the exact same color as when I went to the salon! Not only that but I can stretch one box to cover two months. And my hair feels better. Like richer or something. It's a good feeling!

henna scam
really unhappy, this product no different then regular henna, expect its two bags verse one, would of been cheaper to purchase two boxes verse cover gray for same product just more of it, nasty way to sell same product, if i didnt like the product so much i would be switching to some other brand for that marketing pull of legg
