These are nice but I don't know why it has a black coating that's coming off. I'm doubting if they are really authentic cast iron pans.

It was a lot bigger and heavier than I expected. That being said it's a nice piece of equipment for the home kitchen that should last a lifetime.Need to cook bacon/sausages and eggs on the same skillet? It will do it. Hash browns in one and eggs or meat in the other works as well.Will also work nicely as a thrown siege weapon if someone casts a dire insult at the cook.

Update after 6mo+ still working fantastic. Again, these are cast iron. People who say they're bad don't know how to use them. Don't listen to the haters. They heat up just fine. Pretty even for the price. Don't hesitate. If your in the market for some. Order these. They get the job done without and fuss or issues.Love these, when I got them, I just washed with light soap and water, rubbed some olive oil in them, baked them, then rubbed more oil on them, and put them on the stove top. Till they smoked. Cut the heat let them rest. Then after every use. Put a little oil in them after you clean them and then but them on the burner till smoke. And then let cool. Put away. Super non stick. Great pans.

The good: Not a heavy cast iron griddle which makes it easier to work with and makes the pan more responsive than a heavier griddle. There is a downside to this discussed below. Ears instead of a long handle makes storage easier and reduces the chance of being burned by the hot handle. Came pre-seasoned as advertised and so the griddle was immediately useful. Made nice crispy dosa with little sticking almost right away. The low rounded lip made it easier to work the spatula under the dosa or pancake and release it from the pan. I simply like the clean design.The not so good: The pre-seasoning coating was worn off in a few places (top of lip, underside) and a very minor amount of rust formed in these places. The griddle didn't fully heat to the edge and a hot spot formed over the gas burner. The dosa or pancake isn't evenly browned, they brown nicely in the hot spot but fade to light tan towards the edge where the griddle isn't as hot. My pan wasn't precisely flat. People with an induction cooktop might have to do some grinding to flatten it out.Overall: Satisfied with the product. The reason why I bought this griddle is because my high end stainless skillets formed a yellow film due from the higher temperatures needed to pan-bake these breads. The film is very difficult to remove. This doesn't seem to happen as much with cast iron and is easy to scrape off when some of the oil grunge collects at the edges of the hottest zone. This will be my go-to griddle for griddle fried breads.One tip for making the griddle more non-stick is to rub the cut end of an onion all over the hot pan before adding the oil. Have some pliers handy when using the griddle to move it or stabilize it when scraping the surface of the hot pan.I prefer cast iron over non-stick coating and am happy with this product. Now what I need is a burner with a wider heating zone. The shopping is never done.

I love cooking on cast iron. It’s great for bacon, eggs, steaks, etc. This griddle has a flat side (good for things like eggs or French toast) & a ridged side (for bacon & steaks). It came pre-seasoned & isn’t hard to clean or maintain (just read the directions.)Both sides serve me well, but the flat side isn’t perfectly flat,-it’s a bit uneven- so it loses a star for that. Still a good product.
